The Melapalayam police have initiated action as per Motor Vehicle Act against the men who were seen roaming Teachers’ Colony area in Palayamkottai recently on motorcycles without number plate and taking photos of a few houses.
After The Hindu published a report on August 8 with the photo of youth riding two motorcycles – one without number plate – in Teachers’ Colony near Government Engineering College, the police inquired about it.
The police found the youths to be hailing from Melapalayam area and inquired with their parents. The police, during the inquiry, found that they had taken the photos of a few houses in Teachers’ Colony for posting it on social media. The police have initiated action under the Motor Vehicles Act for the violations – not fitting the number plate in the bike.
The Tirunelveli city police have urged the public not to panic as they were taking crimes like these very seriously and were initiating action against the violators, an official statement said.
