Prince William's Weekend Plans Just Got the Perfect Anthem Outside the Palace
@Source: people.com
Prince William is headed to Switzerland this weekend for one of his favorite royal duties, and the excitement is all around England.
The Prince of Wales, 43, will be attending the final of the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 on Sunday, July 27. He'll be cheering on England's national team, the Lionesses, as both an avid soccer fan and as patron of the Football Association, English soccer's governing body.
England is taking on Spain in the final, attempting to defend their 2022 championship in the match at St. Jakob-Park in Basel.
On Friday, the Band of the Grenadier Guards gathered outside Buckingham Palace to play "Three Lions." The song, released by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner and rock band the Lightning Seeds in 1996, has become the unofficial anthem of England's soccer team in the years since.
Its chorus is instantly recognizable, as many England fans have adopted it as a stadium chant: "It's coming home / It's coming home / It's coming / Football's coming home."

While only Prince William is confirmed to be attending the championship game, it's possible that he might bring along his wife, Kate Middleton, 43, or their children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
In particular, William and Charlotte have shown their support for the Lionesses in the past, sending social media messages for big games. Prince William has also described his only daughter as a "budding star" in soccer and passed along a message from Princess Charlotte to the national team when he visited them in 2022.
"Charlotte wanted me to tell you that she is really good at goal. She said, 'Please tell them that,' " he told the team. "She's a budding star for the future."
As for this year's EURO, William has shown plenty of support as the Lionesses defend their title, visiting the squad at St. George's Park before they departed and traveling to Switzerland for their match against the Netherlands on July 9.
In addition to his obvious support of England's national teams, the Prince of Wales is also a massive fan of the English Premier League club Aston Villa F.C.
He spoke about his love for the team in a March interview with The Sun, sharing how he gets his kids in on his fandom.
“If I’m home alone with the children, I probably don’t have the pre-match pint, but I do have a bit of superstition about where I sit when I’m watching them," William told the outlet.
"If we’re not doing very well, I start moving round the house quite quickly and I put the children in different positions, hoping that’s going to change our luck,” he added
