New Delhi: Twenty-four-year-old Priyansh Arya made a significant impact in the IPL 2025, scoring a rapid 103 runs off 42 balls against Chennai Super Kings in Mullanpur. His aggressive batting performance, which included consistently scoring despite losing teammates, is considered one of the most remarkable in the tournament’s history. Punjab Kings’ assistant coach Brad Haddin noted that Arya’s inclusion in the starting lineup was quickly decided after observing just a few of his practice game deliveries.
“He played about eight balls in a practice game before the IPL. That was enough for us to say that he has to play the first game,” said Haddin while speaking to the host broadcaster.
Priyansh Arya achieved a remarkable feat in a Punjab Kings (PBKS) match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), scoring the fastest century by an uncapped player in IPL history. His innings, which included seven fours and nine sixes, resulted in a strike rate of 245.24 and marked the fifth-fastest century overall in the tournament, as well as the fastest ever scored against CSK. His performance impressed even Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian T20I captain. he wrote, “What a knock. Total entertainment.”
Priyansh Arya, a 24-year-old cricketer from Delhi’s Ashok Vihar, whose father is a government school teacher, has gained national recognition. Coached by Sanjay Bharadwaj, who also mentored prominent players Gautam Gambhir, Nitish Rana, and Amit Mishra, Arya achieved fame last year after hitting six consecutive sixes in an over during the Delhi Premier League. This impressive feat was part of a 120-run innings for South Delhi Superstarz against North Delhi Strikers, an innings that also included ten fours and ten sixes.
“Just before speaking to you, Priyansh had called. He said, ‘namaskar sir.’ He then asked me, ‘Theek tha?’ (Was it okay). I then questioned him about what happened yesterday. He then said that it was nothing but God’s doing. I didn’t do anything (laughs). I always tell him that it is God who is doing everything. He is just making things happen by your means,” an elated Sanjay Bharadwaj said, known as ‘Guruji’ in the Delhi cricket circles.
“He called me at 7:30 in the morning. He slept at 2-3 AM in the night. He has always been like this. He is very down to earth and always respectful,” he added.
