Queen Camilla's Hairdresser Reveals the Royal Was 'So Nervous' Ahead of Wedding to King Charles

Queen Camilla had some extra pre-wedding jitters ahead of her walk down the aisle with King Charles.
Camilla's longtime hair stylist Jo Hansford revealed in a new interview with Hello! magazine that the royal was "so nervous" on the day of her wedding to then-Prince Charles in 2005 — and she wasn't the only one with butterflies.
"I had been doing her hair for years, but I was very nervous about doing it for the wedding," Hansford said. "She looked amazing, thank God. She was so nervous. The whole world was watching, and it must have been terrifying, the same as the coronation. But I think she handled it really well."
On April 9, 2005, the future King Charles and Queen Camilla tied the knot in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall which was followed by a blessing at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. It was the second marriage for both Charles, now 76, and Camilla, now 77. Charles was previously wed to Princess Diana, while Camilla had divorced from Andrew Parker Bowles.
The groom's parents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, did not attend the civil wedding ceremony. However, both were present at the Service of Prayer and Dedication.
Camilla's hair was styled under a wide-brimmed hat for the first ceremony then a feather headpiece for the blessing, forgoing a traditional wedding tiara.
The couple will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary this year in a special way. They'll be on a visit to Italy in April and spend their anniversary abroad.
Hansford, who has been working with the royal for 35 years, said that Camilla has "adapted incredibly well" to royal life. "It's not easy for an older person to come into 'The Firm', as they call it," she said. "It's hard work, and your whole life is programmed for the year."
The stylist continued, "I admire them both. I think the King is amazing; he is definitely his mother's son. He's a stalwart – absolutely incredible. I think she supports him incredibly well, and I think he's very lucky."
"It's just a shame they didn't do it before, but the most important thing is that they're happy together and they're both right for each other," she added.

While Hansford has subtly changed Queen Camilla's hair color over the years, the hair stylist revealed that the royal doesn't always require her services.
"I think it looks really good, and she manages it well," Hansford said. "She isn't dependent on people all the time unless she has to style it for a special occasion. She's very low-maintenance."
