Rafael Devers Injury: Alex Cora Gives Concerning Update On Red Sox Star
@Source: newsweek.com
Is it time for Boston Red Sox fans to worry about Rafael Devers?The star third baseman's spring training debut was delayed multiple weeks due to a shoulder injury. Devers was supposed to see his first game action against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday, but he'll miss that target as well.While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Red Sox manager Alex Cora revealed that Devers now plans to play Saturday against the Atlanta Braves. However, Cora also said Devers will face Garrett Crochet and Walker Buehler on the backfields Wednesday and Thursday, an indication the star slugger's injury isn't serious.If Devers debuts soon, he likely won't be in jeopardy of missing the March 27 season opener against the Texas Rangers. But time is running out, and it's fair to wonder whether Devers will be rusty even if he's ready for opening day.Should Devers be unavailable to start the season, the Red Sox likely would start Alex Bregman at third base. That would leave Vaughn Grissom, David Hamilton and star prospect Kristian Campbell vying for second base.More MLB: Red Sox Roster Cuts: 2 Top Prospects Headline Initial Moves As Season Nears
