BCCI president Roger Binny’s tenure is set to end in July this year with the world cup winning allrounder set to turn 70. As per the BCCI constitution, a person ceases to be an office bearer if he/she has attained the age of 70 years.
Sources have told CNN-News18 that current BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla is expected to take over as the interim president for three months before the Annual General Meeting slated to be held in September.
During AGM, Shukla can stand for a full-term as BCCI president.
Binny, a member of India’s 1983 World Cup winning squad, will be celebrating his 70th birthday on July 19. He was elected unopposed to the post in 2022 taking over from former India captain Sourav Ganguly.
Binny played a starring role in India’s historic triumph at the world cup, finishing as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 18 scalps. He played 27 Tests and 72 ODIs for India between 1979 and 1987.
He took a combined 124 wickets during his international career besides scoring 1459 runs.
