Cairo: Saudi authorities in charge of Islam's two holiest mosques have launched a unified platform to carry worshippers and pilgrims in the Grand Mosque as the numbers of the faithful are swelling during the current Muslim sacred month of Ramadan.Designed to facilitate the process of booking carts for moving inside the sprawling site, the platform allows users to pre-book online and choose their transportation means from among golf carts, push carts, and free, non-push carts, based on their personal needs.The online service, moreover, provides multiple options for performing rituals including the circumambulation of the Holy Kaaba in the Grand Mosque as well the full rites of the Umrah or minor pilgrimage, along with choosing the appropriate date and time..The platform features easy electronic payment and access, as well as all-out technical support to ensure a smooth experience for users.Worshippers interested in the service can access the platform via the website of the General Authority for Care of the Two Holy Mosques. Priority is given to the elderly and physically challenged people.The agency has allocated 400 large electric golf carts to serve the elderly and disabled pilgrims.Ramadan, which started this year on March 1, usually marks the peak season of Umrah in the Grand Mosque.More than 25 million worshippers, including 5.5 million Umrah pilgrims, prayed in the mosque during the first 10 days of Ramadan, according to Saudi-owned Al Arabiya TV.
