Rebekah Vardy lands fly-on-the-wall Netflix doc after Wagatha fallout

Rebekah Vardy will appear in a new fly-on-the-wall Netflix documentary following the conclusion of the long-running Wagatha Christie libel battle with Coleen Rooney.
The show will reportedly follow Mrs Vardy and her striker husband Jamie Vardy as the pair navigate life in wake of the lawsuit and Jamie’s departure from Leicester City football club.
The legal battle, which Mrs Vardy lost, left the mum of five with a £1.4 million bill, much of which she may recoup with the over £1 million payday she is said to receive from Netflix.
Her rivalry with Coleen is set to continue, however, with the fellow WAG capitalising on her rising celebrity by signing a deal for a similar documentary made by Disney+.
Mrs Vardy got her first taste of the filming process when a Netflix crew followed her to a pub in Nottingham last weekend where she watched her husband play Nottingham Forest in a room packed with rival fans.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, patrons at the Brewhouse bar described the 43-year-old as “bloody brave” for taking herself and the conspicuous film crew into the midst of opposition supporters.
One said: “Fair play to her. Becky is recognisable enough on her own but she was being followed around by a Netflix crew so it couldn't have been more conspicuous – but she took it all in her stride.
“She joined in with the football banter and posed for some pictures when people came over.”
The upcoming show will shed light on Jamie’s plans following his exit from Leicester City after 13 years.
Sources close to the Vardy’s told the Daily Mail the Netflix deal might mean that a move to the lucrative playing fields of Saudi Arabia is much less probable.
Speculation is that Jamie might seek to join the fast growing America Soccer league, but there may also be interest from Hollywood-star backed Wrexham, owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, or Birmingham City which is part owned by American football great Tom Brady.
A source reported: “There was always a lot of talk about Saudi but the truth is they're not desperate to move out there, especially with their young kids.
“They checked it out but it doesn't really suit their lifestyle. If they're to go abroad, America is much more likely as they've spent time a fair amount of time there and love the way of life.
“But actually, a UK move would mean they could stay in their family home, which they love, and some of the Championship clubs with glitzy star appeal would definitely appeal.”
In the aftermath of the court case, in which a judge ruled the allegations of leaking private information about Mrs Rooney were “substantially true”, Mrs Vardy has hired Simon Cowell’s former PR manager, Ben Todd, to rehabilitate her damaged public image.
