England's Meg Jones is suiting up to step out in the ultimate gladiator arena this summer. The 28-year-old is part of John Mitchell's Red Roses squad for the upcoming 2025 Rugby World Cup , which will take place on English soil. The event will travel the country, dotting down in seven host cities before making it's way to London, with the culmination of a month of tantalising rugby coming to a head on Saturday, September 27. And for Jones, there's one location that sticks out in her mind above all else, with the possibility of winning the Rugby World Cup in front of a sold-out home crowd on the battle ground of Allianz Stadium looming large. "Playing at Allianz and coming out of that tunnel, it's literally tunnel vision," she said. "It just opens up into this huge arena, this battle arena, where you're like, 'this is where we're about to go to war'. "That's the feeling I like, particularly when you see flags waving around the crowd. It's just the sense that there's a battle ahead, and what an arena to be in for it. Hopefully we get that opportunity." World Rugby has announced Allianz as an Official Supporter of Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025. In celebration of Allianz' longstanding championing of the game, the home of England Rugby was renamed Allianz Stadium in 2024. Their new partnership with the Red Roses only further reinforces its commitment to supporting the women’s game, one that Jones is acutely aware of. "It's clearly amazing having Allianz on board,' she said. "I think it just shows their commitment to us as a team, but also the women's game. So that's just huge for us going forward. "Obviously, we've got a lot of chapters to go through before we get there [the final], but Allianz is our home crowd. It is the home of English rugby and I think a lot of teams want to be aspiring to be there as well, because it's definitely the place to be "To have it sold out at Allianz is what dreams are made of." During the time that Allianz have been a supporter, women's rugby has grown exponentially. The final of the 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup, the last edition to be held in England, saw just over 13,000 people in attendance. This September, a world record of 66,000 are expected to light up the stands at Allianz Stadium in what is an incredible bookend in the history of the women's game over the past 15 years. "Regardless if we're there or not, what a huge step the women's games has made with that many people expected," said Jones. "It's a product of what happens when England Rugby are paving the way. "I'm only expecting it to grow bigger and bigger as well. So we need to be ready for that as players. But also the Unions need to be ready for that and hopefully it inspires other nations to do the same, to keep delving deep into marketing, engagement with fans and just growing the game as a whole." England have finished runners-up in five of the last six Rugby World Cups, taking the title for the first time in 2014. With the warm-up of a 97-7 victory over Spain last weekend, it's clear they are on top form to reclaim the crown on home soil. And with the opportunity to play France on August 9 in Mont-de-Marsan for their final preparation match ahead of the tournament, gladiator Jones admitted that she is hungrier than ever for the opportunity of a lifetime. "There's not too many nerves at the moment," she said. "I think I'm just excited more than anything. [Spain] just made us more hungry leading into this next test match. "Obviously, we know the challenge that faces us, France in France is never easy. We're fully aware that no team are just going to roll over backwards for us. We just want to make sure we're putting the best sort of product on display. "We've got so much will and power behind us, so we genuinely believe, and we have a lot of belief, that our game works. "We've got deep internal motivation that is going to drive us further."
