His determination led to McIlroy's second career win at the event, silencing doubters.This season, the 4-time major winner has participated in five events, recording two victories, another top-5 finish at the Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour, and two top-20 finishes.Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus had previously suggested that McIlroy's self-inflicting nature was holding him back from winning majors."I still firmly believe that Rory will win the Masters; he's just too good not to. You just gotta get him out of himself. You know that's the problem," the Golden Bear shared on 5 Clubs podcast last year.However, McIlroy's recent win may be proving Nicklaus wrong.During the post-round interview, the Northern Irishman revealed: "I think just double down on what I'm doing. Double down on the work that I've been doing at home," he said when asked about his mindset going forward."Double down on the conversations I've been having with Bob Rotella, all that sort of stuff.
