Tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki has made a bold prediction about the Masters as her ex-fiancé Rory McIlroy stages a comeback at Augusta. McIlroy rallied in his second round on Friday, positioning himself T3 and back in the running for the coveted Green Jacket. Erica Stoll, McIlroy's wife, has been present at the event, while their daughter Poppy became the star of the Par 3 contest. The 35-year-old golfer had a disappointing start on the opening day but made an impressive recovery on Friday, ascending the leaderboard. The four-time major champion scored an impressive six-under-par round of 66 in the second round at Augusta, putting him firmly back in contention to win the Masters for the first time. While fans were delighted to witness his resurgence, many were surprised by ESPN's interview with Wozniacki just as he was making his way up the leaderboard. McIlroy and Wozniacki were together for several years from 2011 and were even engaged in 2013, but they abruptly ended their relationship over a three-minute phone call. McIlroy later confessed it was his decision, as he wasn't ready for marriage. Wozniacki has also opened up about the split, admitting she was taken aback by its suddenness, reports the Mirror. 2018 Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki, who is currently at Augusta with her husband for the iconic tournament, expressed her admiration for the venue in a conversation with ESPN. She remarked: "As an athlete, I think there's some places that are so iconic that are on the bucket list, and this and Wimbledon are so special." "There's so much tradition here. When you arrive at the premises, there's just something about not having your phone, really being in the moment." "You see everything. It's just so beautiful, and to be able to be here with my husband and enjoying it, just the two of us, no kids, no distractions, it's really, really nice." Talking about the pressures facing players at the event, Wozniacki stated: "There's so much pressure here, it's the small margins. These greens are so difficult, so if you don't hit it at the perfect spot, you go from being in a position for maybe going for a birdie to being lucky getting a bogey." She continued, discussing the appeal of excellence across sports: "Watching someone who is so good at their craft I think has always been very inspiring, whether it's tennis, golf, at work, whatever it is. As a spectator, it's always fun to see when the best in the world are struggling, and that's what you get here." While focusing on Rory McIlroy's personal life progressions, Wozniacki took the opportunity to give a cheeky nod at her predilection for the Green Jacket winner along with husband David Lee, a retired NBA player, confirming neither picked McIlroy as their favourite. Former tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki has divulged a personal Masters tradition she holds with her husband, explaining: "David and I, my husband, we always pick a winner before the tournament starts," and revealing that they fancied Ludvig Aberg's chances this time around, saying, "We pick one that we think has a big chance of winning, and that was [Ludvig] Aberg." Despite picking Aberg to triumph, he finds himself tied for 12th place after a challenging second round. Aberg ended the day one over par, with an aggregate score of -3, trailing three shots behind Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy and five behind leader Justin Rose. As McIlroy pushes to close the gap, there's added motivation with his wife in attendance, especially after the couple's decision to reverse their separation and work on their marriage. In addition to interviews with sports figures like Wozniacki at the Masters, ESPN's coverage provided some surprises, including an appearance by Niall Horan, formerly of One Direction. NFL personalities, such as new Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, have also been in the mix, taking in the Augusta atmosphere.
