RTE show winners won’t have to fight over top prize because ‘no one actually takes it home’, popular star reveals

COUPLES competing in the Dancing With The Stars final this weekend won’t have to fight over who takes home the glitterball trophy - because no one gets to bring it home. Celebs who’ve been sweating it out for months on the RTE show, eying up the prize, need to downscale their ambitions if they think they’ll get a massive glitterball to keep after the final. That’s according to Olympian Jack Woolley’s dance pro, Australian Alex Vladimirov, who told the Irish Sun: “No one actually takes the big glitterball trophy home, it just stays there. You get mini ones apparently.” Dance partner Jack said: “And I had a lovely place for it at home and everything. Maybe we will get a replica made instead.” After ten weeks, there are just four celebs left on the dancefloor - Jack, athlete Rhys McClenaghan, lip syncer Kayleigh Trappe and Mrs Brown's Boys star Danny O’Carroll. Jack and Alex have been battling each week for the top of the scoreboard with rivals Rhys and partner Laura Nolan, who ended Sunday’s semi-final a single point ahead of them with 45 points. So there will be more pressure than ever on Jack and Alex’s dance this weekend. And up until now they have been having fun. Alex told us: “We have talked about this. I have told Jack the closer it gets, the more you are going to think about it competitively but I don’t want you to do that, and instead I want to get into the mindset of focusing on us. “I tell Jack you will never get a chance again to dance in a show like this, so take every minute and enjoy it.” The couple could also worry about their public vote. Jack said: “I’d love to win but every week we have tried to go out and give our best performance possible. "But obviously it's a competition; with the Olympics and the sport, it’s down to what we do personally, but this down to public votes. “So it’s not really in my hands, all I can do is go out and do the best performance possible. Have so much fun. Do what we do because we have been really consistent with our dances, we haven’t had an off week. "Fingers crossed it doesn’t happen at the end.” The finals of Dancing With The Stars airs this Sunday on RTE One at 6:30pm.
