Outlander sensation Sam Heughan has shared insights into the filming of the show's eighth and concluding season on Starz. The 44 year old Scottish actor, known for his portrayal of Jamie Fraser, was present at a screening for his sizzling Starz drama The Couple Next Door when he was probed by Josh Horowitz about Outlander. During the conversation, the host of the Happy Sad Confused podcast delved into the details of shooting the final season, particularly Heughan's experience with returning to set for additional scenes, reports the Scottish Daily Express . Heughan disclosed: "We'd finished but we were going back for like, I think, two weeks." Reflecting on the peculiarity of coming back, he remarked: "In some ways, it was kinda weird because, I think Richard [Rankin] and Sophie [Skelton] had been wrapped out three times." "They were like, 'It's your final day on set, yeah!' And everyone gives a round of applause and then they were back the next day." Delving into his personal sentiments regarding the end of an era, Heughan elaborated: "I mean, look the whole of last year actually was very emotional. It was a very difficult one. "I know why because we knew it was coming. Some days it just felt like another day on set. It was like, 'Oh, this is what we've done for the last 11 years.' "And then other days you're like, 'This is the last time I will ever put on this garter or boot, or whatever it was.' So it was like, 'This is the last time I'll be with this person.' "And there were a lot of goodbyes and the last day was very emotional." Outlander served as a launching pad for Heughan's career, following his smaller roles in the BBC medical drama Doctors, Hallmark's heartwarming film A Christmas Princess, and Heart of Lightness. However, it was his portrayal of Jamie Fraser that transformed Heughan into a global sensation. Since his breakthrough role in Outlander, Heughan has expanded his portfolio with a variety of projects, including films such as Bloodshot, The Spy Who Dumped Me, SAS: Red Notice, and It's All Coming Back To Me.
