Sarawak dancers Jovanna Goh, Ariella Tang win 16 medals at Singapore championship

KUCHING, March 10: Sarawak’s rising Dancesport talents have once again made their mark on the international stage, bringing home an impressive 16 medals from the 1st JCDA Dancesport Championships held in Singapore on March 8.
Eight-year-old prodigies from Tyng Dance Academy (TDA), Jovanna Goh and Ariella Tang, dazzled the competition with their technical prowess, discipline, and competitive spirit, proving that Sarawak’s Dancesport development system is grooming future champions.
Goh delivered an outstanding performance at the competition, securing a total of six gold medals, one silver, and three bronze. She also placed fourth in one event and sixth in another, rounding out her impressive achievements.
Meanwhile, Tang won six bronze medals, apart from securing two fourth-place finishes and a fifth-place ranking in another category. Additionally, she achieved two sixth-place finishes and an eighth-place ranking, demonstrating her ability to compete at a high level across multiple events.
Competing in their first international event of the season, the young dancers showcased the result of years of structured training, mentorship, and exposure through Sarawak’s dedicated Dancesport initiatives.
The championship, held at the National University of Singapore Society (NUSS) Guild Hall, attracted top young dancers from across the region, making Sarawak’s achievements even more remarkable.
“With a well-established training ecosystem and international exposure, Sarawak is not just nurturing local talent—it is building champions who can stand on global podiums. These victories reinforce the state’s position as a rising powerhouse in the Southeast Asian Dancesport scene.
