Time to save the rainforest … by bulldozing it?
Such is the feckless privilege of the global “climate” kleptocrat class: In their infinite wisdom, these defenders of the planet wrecked a huge stretch of virgin rainforest in Brazil to build a four-lane highway to handle expected bigwig traffic at the upcoming COP30 climate summit in Belem.
Were it fiction, this tale would be a comic coup worthy of Evelyn Waugh, or at least Mike Judge.
Except it’s 100% real, with copious photos showing the devastated forest.
The news comes on the heels of The Post’s own devastating exclusive showing how World Bank officials — themselves among the biggest mouthers of climate pieties — emitted at least a brain-busting 1,500 metric tons of carbon flying to and from COP29 (last year’s green shindig), in Baku, Azerbaijan.
That’s the equivalent of the annual output of 200 US homes.
Hmmmm, maybe they couldn’t get their Zoom accounts working properly? It can be tricky.
Then again, onetime “climate envoy” John Kerry is notorious for flying private at every possible opportunity, arrogantly insisting that it’s the only option for “someone like me” (that is: a mega-wealthy Democrat with pretensions to moral greatness).
Now, we’re no experts.
But a quick back-of-the-envelope calculation suggests that if your overall goal is outputting less CO2, then outputting more CO2 isn’t the way to hit that target.
And that maybe throwing big parties where every tinpot dictator and NGO parasite flies in business class or better to pat each other on the back about how wonderful they are for forcing cold showers, crappy dishwashers and cricket burgers on the world’s unwashed plebeians won’t help, either.
Until our moral betters figure this out, expect more rainforest-logging and carbon-spewing.
At this rate, maybe they’ll even nuke the whales.
For sane people, though, it’s Exhibit 1 Billion that the climate-change racket is just that.
