Scott Peterson Assaulted in Prison After Dispute Over Pickleball Game

Convicted killer Scott Peterson was allegedly attacked by another inmate after they got into a “heated confrontation” over a pickleball game.
According to information from various sources, an incident took place at California’s Mule Creek State Prison involving Scott, aged 52, and another prisoner. The altercation occurred in the yard close to Scott’s living quarters on Sunday, March 9, and was reported by TMZ on Tuesday, March 11.
The outlet’s insiders claimed Scott hit the ball directly at the other inmate, which caused him to get “beat up” by his fellow prisoner. TMZ reported that Scott’s injuries weren’t serious enough to require hospitalization.
Scott is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the murders of his pregnant wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son, Conner. His case and Laci’s disappearance have been the subject of numerous TV shows and documentaries.
The former fertilizer salesman reported Laci, then 27, missing on December 24, 2002. She was eight months pregnant with their first child at the time and allegedly didn’t return home after taking their dog for a walk near their Modesto, California, home on Christmas Eve.
A massive search was launched for Laci and suspicion fell to Scott after massage therapist Amber Frey came forward on January 24, 2003, telling reporters she had been dating him since November 2002. She claimed Scott told her he wasn’t married.
Laci’s body was found on the shore of the San Francisco Bay on April 14, 2003. The remains of her unborn child washed up the day prior. Scott had told authorities he had gone fishing in the area on the day of his wife’s disappearance.
After the bodies were positively identified as Laci and Conner on April 18, 2023, Scott was arrested the same day while on a golf course in San Diego, California. Three days later, he was charged with two felony counts of murder with premeditation and special circumstances, while pleading not guilty.
Scott’s trial began on June 1, 2004, with a jury finding him guilty of first-degree murder for Laci’s death and second-degree murder for Conner’s death on November 12, 2004. Scott received the death penalty at his sentencing the following month, but the California Supreme Court overturned his death sentence in 2020, after determining his jury pool was improperly screened. He was resentenced the following year to life in prison without parole.
The ex-restauranteur has always maintained his innocence in his wife’s murder. Scott spoke out for the first time since 2003 in a jailhouse interview for Face to Face With Scott Peterson, a three-part Peacock docuseries that premiered in August 2024. He continued to deny any involvement in the disappearance and murder of Laci and Conner, although he opened up about his affair with Amber, 50.
“It’s horrible. I was a total a–hole to be having sex outside our marriage,” Scott explained.
He went on to call out police and prosecutors, saying they ignored significant leads and relied solely on circumstantial evidence.
“I regret not testifying [at my trial], but if I have a chance to show people what the truth is, and if they are willing to accept it, it would be the biggest thing that I can accomplish right now — because I didn’t kill my family,” Scott explained to viewers.
“There was a burglary across the street from our home. There [were] a lot of people involved. And I believe Laci went over there to see what was going on, and that’s when she was taken,” Scott claimed in the docuseries, sharing a theory investigators already dismissed.
