@Source: newsweek.com
Scottie Scheffler unveiled his menu for the upcoming Masters Tournament Champions Dinner on Wednesday, and held a press conference about it. But it wasn't all cheeseburgers, ravioli, and meatballs, as other hot topics also made their way into the conversation.LIV Golf was brought to the table, and the World No. 1 didn't dodge the bullet.On the contrary, he voiced strong opinions about the role those who have signed with the league have played in the current state of men's professional golf."If we want to figure out why the game of golf is not back together, go ask those guys," Scheffler said. "Go wherever they are playing this week and figure out when the game is going to come back together. We'll see."Scheffler added that he personally does not hold any grudges against any of the players who decided to leave for LIV Golf, but that they made the decision freely and knew the consequences."I wish some of those guys had stayed, but at the end of the day, they made their choice," he said. "They knew the consequences of that decision, and I'm not here to change their minds. I hold no ill will towards any of those guys that left.""They did what they wanted to do, and you know, I can't control their life. I'm not going to sit here and say they should have done something differently. They made their choice."The 28-year-old did not hide the fact that he would like to compete more often with the best players currently signed to LIV Golf, but confirmed his opinion that the level on the PGA Tour is the highest in the world."I definitely miss the competition. I miss... they got some pretty good players on their tour. I still think the PGA Tour has by far the best players in the world. The depth of our fields and the competition that we have is still hands down the best competition that there is in the game of golf. That's why I'm still playing on the tour is I love the competition."This is not the first time Scottie Scheffler has put LIV Golf players in the spotlight. A year ago, prior to playing in The PLAYERS Championship, the two-time Masters winner was asked a similar question and his answer was very similar."If the fans are upset, then look at the guys that left," he said, according to ABC. "We had a tour, we were all together and the people that left are no longer here. At the end of the day, that's where the splintering comes from. As far as our tour goes ... we're doing our best to create the best product for the fans, and that's really where we're at."The Ridgewood, New Jersey, native is the defending champion of the Masters Tournament and, in keeping with tradition, will host a dinner for all of the event's former champions.Scottie Scheffler's menu, unveiled Wednesday, includes cheeseburger sliders, ravioli, meatballs, firecracker shrimp, chili and chocolate chip skillet cookies, among other dishes.More Golf: PGA Tour: How to Watch Valspar Championship, Tee Times, Streaming, More
