IRISH PGA Tour star Shane Lowry has hailed world number one Scottie Scheffler ahead of the opening major of the 2025 season.
The Offaly ace will be among the favourites as the Masters gets underway on Thursday at Augusta National.
And ahead of his drive up Magnolia Lane, the 2019 Open champion spoke with Paul Kimmage in the Irish Independent.
World number 12 Lowry hailed the American as 'impressively unimpressive'.
Shane Lowry will making his 10th appearance at Augusta National this year, arriving with a strong recent record at the Masters, including a tie for third in 2022 and four top-25 finishes in his last five starts.
The Irishman finished third to the Scheffler at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.
And Lowry implied that two-time Masters winner Scheffler maybe doesn't get the credit he deserves for his stellar numbers on the course.
Lowry said: "He’s impressively unimpressive. I remember that final round, he shot 66 around an unbelievably tough golf course to win by five."
"Because I hadn’t been one bit impressed watching him play. Now, if that was Rory [McIlroy], you’d be like: ‘Oh my God!’ but you watch Scottie do it, and it doesn’t look anything.
"He hits it in the right place, holes the putt, and before you know it, he’s shot 66.
"I don’t know; maybe it’s the way he moves his feet, but I think he has the best golfing brain, bar none."
As for Lowry, he enjoyed a solid run of form in 2025, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and four top-12 results worldwide.
Last season, Lowry reached the Tour Championship for the first time, won the Zurich Classic team event alongside Rory McIlroy, and placed sixth in both the PGA Championship and The Open.
He also represented Ireland at the Olympics and made history at Oak Hill by firing a third-round 62 to equal the lowest 18-hole score ever recorded in a major.
Impressively, he now has top-four finishes in all four majors.
All the action from Augusta National gets underway from Thursday on Sky Sports Golf.
