For most of the last three decades, Tiger Woods has been inspiring the next generation... and the generation after that.Woods' dominance rubbed off on many of the best golfers in the world today, and you still see his influence through the PGA Tour even when he is not on the course.That goes for Irishman Shane Lowry, a major champion in his own right after winning The Open Championship at Royal Portrush in 2019. Lowry grew up watching Woods sink iconic shots on the course throughout his childhood, including the 15-time major champion's epic hole-out on No. 16 at The Masters in 2005.During his pre-tourney press conference at the 89th Masters Tournament, Lowry took it back to where he was when he watched that shot, which is now one of the most famous in the history of the sport."I was 18, I was in the middle of my exams back home -- can't imagine I was studying anyway," Lowry said with a laugh. "But I'm sure I was out on the golf course the following day trying to do the same thing. That's what I used to do, that's how I grew up is to watch Tiger Woods in the evening times at home on the weekend, and go out and try to do what he did the following day. So obviously very memorable."Lowry will be looking to make a little history of his own as he chases his first green jacket and his second major overall.The 38-year-old has been flying under the radar a bit this season, but he has still put together some solid results that should have him feeling pretty good about his game coming into The Masters.He finished in the top 10 at both The Players Championship and The Valspar Championship in March, so Lowry could be seen as a dark horse coming into Augusta.Who knows?
