The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to X on Monday (April 21) to announce the annual player retainership for the ongoing 2024-25 season. As many as 34 players managed to secure their place in four categories, with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah being part of the A+ category, and the quartet is set to earn Rs 7 crore per year. Last year 32 players were part of the central contract list, but this year 34 players managed to secure the deal. Here’s a look at the complete list of changes in BCCI’s central contract list. OUT: Five players – Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Jitesh Sharma, KS Bharat and Avesh Khan – were part of the central contract list last year, but this year, they failed to seal the deal. While Ashwin has retired from international cricket, the other four were part of Grade C in the 2023-24 cycle. IN: Seven players – Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Akash Deep, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Harshit Rana – are part of the 2024-25 central contract list after missing out last season. While Iyer and Ishan were not considered for annual contracts in the 2023-24 season, the remaining five earned their maiden central contracts. Iyer is part of Grade B and is set to pocket Rs 3 crore, whereas the remaining six are in Grade C and will earn Rs 1 crore per year.
