Shreyas Iyer Left Awestruck By SRH's 247-Run Heist: 'Still Making Me Laugh...'

Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer has said that he cannot believe that the Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the 246-run target with two overs to go, while adding that Abhishek Sharma was lucky to survive multiple dropped chances and a better fielding effort could have seen a different result.
Hyderabad have not been at their best in IPL 2025, where they lost four matches on the trot, one of which was while chasing.
After the game, when Iyer was asked what he felt could have been the match-winning total at the venue, he admitted that he was stunned at Hyderabad making the 246-run target look like a walk in the park.
“It was a fantastic total (PBKS made). It has been making me laugh with the way they have chased it with two overs to spare. We could have taken two exceptional catches,” Iyer said while speaking at the post-match presentation.
“He (Abhisek) was a bit lucky as well, even though he played an exceptional knock. Catching win you matches and we fell short there. We didn’t bowl well, but we have to go back to the drawing board,” Iyer added.
Abhishek was dropped almost at the halfway mark in the innings, on the first delivery of the eighth over, when he was batting on 56 off 22.
Opting to bat, Iyer smacked a blistering 82 off 36 deliveries, laced with six sixes and as many boundaries, powering his team to a huge 245/6, despite a four-fer by Harshal Patel.

Lockie Ferguson’s hamstring injury after bowling just two deliveries left Iyer with one bowler short as well.
Having played second fiddle early on, Travis Head shifted gears in the ninth over, smacking compatriot Glenn Maxwell for consecutive sixes.
With Hyderabad in full flow, Iyer used seven bowlers within the first nine overs, but none could make a breakthrough because of some sloppy fielding.
Earlier, openers Priyansh Arya (36) and Prabhsimran Singh (42) provided a blazing 66-run start, but it was Iyer who anchored the innings with a whirlwind 82 off 36 deliveries.
PBKS play their next game against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in Mullanpur on April 15.
