Sir Andy Murray has been listed as one of Britain's wealthiest sportspeople in the recently published Sunday Times Rich List 2025. The retired tennis star, who ended his playing career at the Paris Olympics last year, features in the '40 Under 40' list. This list details the richest individuals in the UK under the age of 40. His impressive net worth of £110 million places him joint 35th on that list, with his wealth increasing by £10 million over the past year. Murray's substantial fortune is hardly a surprise, considering he earned nearly £52 million in winnings during his playing career. He clinched three Grand Slam titles and two Olympic gold medals. Over the years, he has also inked profitable endorsement and sponsorship deals with big brands like Jaguar, Castore, Under Armour and Head. Collaborations with other brands, including Amazon Prime Video, Standard Life, and American Express, have further boosted his net worth, reports Wales Online . However, Murray's wealth isn't solely derived from his tennis career. He and his wife Kim have made several astute business decisions in recent years. Together, they own the luxurious five-star Cromlix House hotel near Murray's hometown of Dunblane in Scotland. The couple held their wedding reception there in 2015 after tying the knot at the town's cathedral. The couple snapped up the hotel two years ago for a cool £1.8 million, with Murray's brother Jamie tying the knot there and their grandparents marking their wedding anniversaries at the same spot. Nestled in 34 acres of private land and woodlands, the opulent hotel boasts 10 bedrooms, five suites, a cosy one-bedroom lodge, not to mention its own chapel, tennis court, pickleball court, and a restaurant helmed by an award-winning chef. Originally built as a Victorian mansion, it has been handed down through the Drummond family. It was under management until December 2022, when the Murrays declared they would personally oversee the venue. Following significant renovations, the hotel has emerged as one of Scotland's most exclusive retreats, with room rates typically ranging from £350 to £950 per night, as listed on KAYAK. While Andy Murray has been occupied concluding his tennis career and surprisingly joining Novak Djokovic's coaching team for a brief stint, Kim has been lauded as the "creative force" behind the hotel project, playing a pivotal role in defining its style and ambiance. Kim, who lacks formal training in interior design but once mulled over attending art college, told Country Living magazine about her creative aspirations. She also previously managed a pet portrait enterprise named Brushes and Paws. She revealed to the publication about the timing when they took on the hotel venture: "We'd finished having children and we'd finished building our house, so it seemed the perfect time," as she discussed the immense effort involved in running the establishment. "Having little kids has been all-consuming." Reflecting on the transformative experience, she stated: "Renovating the hotel has enabled me to come out of motherhood and create something different. I think of it as a family project. Maybe in 15 years, the kids will be interested in it. I want to see where it takes us." Following their hard work, the hotel proudly clinched the prestigious AA Hotel of the Year award for Scotland, prompting Murray to publicly commend his wife's dedication via a heartfelt online post. Expressing his pride, Murray shared an image of Kim grasping the award and quipped on social media: "At least someone in the family can still win stuff. Congrats to my wife and all the team @cromlixhotel for winning the AA Hotel of the year award for Scotland." Despite the accolade, the journey has not been without its tribulations, as the hotel reported another notable loss for the latest financial year. According to CityAM, the venue posted losses of £369,045 for the year ending March 2024, although they were less severe than the previous year's deficit of £919,572. After posting a profit in 2022 at £416,442, the couple are exploring new opportunities, launching an exclusive gin brand tied to the hotel, showcasing local botanicals from around the property. Murray has gone into a new venture with craft gin producer Wildfire Gin to launch Cromlix Gin, which boasts raspberry leaf and milk thistle picked straight from the hotel's garden, using water sourced from a borehole on the property. Murray is also a shareholder of sportswear brand Castore, who kit out Everton and Newcastle United and have collaborated with him on his very own AMC clothing line. "I'd wanted to set up my own apparel brand for a long time," he said on revealing why he named Castore as his official kit partner back in 2019. As for his own clothing brand, he added: "I felt there was a clear gap in the market for stylish tennis wear and so, with my team, we identified Castore as a brand that could help me deliver something I felt really proud of." Murray also touched on why Castore appealed to him, explaining: "I like the fact that they are a British brand, set up by two brothers, and that sustainability is important to them. "I think the most important thing is to be true to who you are. If a brand partnership doesn't feel genuine, people can quite quickly see through that and it just doesn't work."
