Alex Jones admitted she was completely floored on Monday's The One Show after a poignant surprise. During the latest episode, Davina McCall made her first live show appearance on Monday night after undergoing brain surgery. Just four months ago, the TV presenter underwent surgery to remove a benign brain tumour, known as a colloid cyst. On Monday night, Davina, 57, appeared on The One Show, revealing it was her first live television appearance since her surgery, as she talked about the upcoming Red Nose Day. And due to the upcoming Red Nose Day Comic Relief festivities, Davina revealed she had a surprise for host Alex, 47. Co-host Vernon Kay said: "Money raised from Comic Relief goes towards helping people in the UK and overseas. Alex you've seen first hand what the money does..." To which Alex replied: "I have! Comic Relief funds lots of projects each year here in the UK, for young children and mums in particular, one example is called Maternity Mates. "But ten years ago, I had a chance to go to Uganda, where they helped transform a maternity centre in desperate need of refurbishment. Gosh, I remember that like it was yesterday!" It was at this point that Vernon, 50, teased: "Well Davina, you've got a bit of a surprise for our Alex..." to which Davina replied: "I have because Comic Relief have been doing a little bit of filming in Uganda again... and they spoke to someone you might remember... called Angela... who was the midwife... have a look at this!" To which a video of the midwife in question played before another clip aired, which saw the mother Alex helped give birth share a sweet message to the presenter. The mother said: "In 2015, Alex and Dr Angela helped me give birth. They came and took me to the hospital in Tororo and then brought me back to Iyolwa Health Centre. This is the child that I gave birth to and named him after you." The video ended with the mother's child, Alex, nine, also sharing an adorable message. After the surprise, host Alex admitted: "Oh my goodness! Oh my Gosh! I can't even believe that, it seems like yesterday but I had never seen anybody giving birth before, I cut the umbilical cord with a razor because that's all there was." A stunned Alex added over the surprise and sweet video messages: "That is amazing, gosh, that has floored me!" The One Show continues on weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
