@Source: newsweek.com
The Pittsburgh Steelers officially have a new starting quarterback. Aaron Rodgers is the new man in town for the storied franchise and will look to make one more run at a Super Bowl.After a full offseason of rumors, reports, and speculation, fans now know that Rodgers will in fact be playing. Now, it's on the Steelers to put together the best Super Bowl contender they can to support the future Hall of Fame quarterback.Looking at the roster, there is a need to add another weapon for Rodgers if Pittsburgh can find one that makes sense.With that in mind, could the Steelers consider pursuing a trade with Rodgers' former team, the Green Bay Packers? That is something that has been suggested.Read more: Former Steelers Star Rips Into Team After Aaron Rodgers SigningGary Davenport of Bleacher Report made a very intriguing suggestion recently. He noted Pittsburgh as a possible trade suitor for Packers' wide receiver Romeo Doubs."There are no shortage of teams with passing-game deficiencies (looking at you, Pittsburgh), so if the Packers really do decide to shop Doubs, finding a trade partner shouldn't be especially difficult," Davenport wrote.In their short time together, Doubs and Rodgers had good chemistry. Bringing him in alongside of DK Metcalf would give the Steelers a very talented wide receiver duo.Throughout his three years in Green Bay, Doubs has put up solid numbers. He has caught 147 passes for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns. There have been flashes where he has looked like a potential No. 1 wide receiver for the Packers, but those moments have been nothing close to consistent yet.Read more: Steelers Make Major Aaron Rodgers AnnouncementAt 25 years old, Doubs would be a pickup both for the 2025 season and potentially long-term. He will be entering the final year of his contract this season, but Pittsburgh could re-sign him if things work out well.Obviously, this is all speculation. It's simply a move that the Steelers could pursue with the Packers if they're motivated to make an impact trade at the wide receiver position. Doubs would be one of the best potential targets around the NFL.All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the Steelers choose to do. Now that Rodgers is in town and officially the starting quarterback, Pittsburgh could look to get more aggressive in their pursuit of championship contention.For more Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
