Swansea City lost 1-0 to Exeter City in a pre-season clash at St James Park in Devon. Sonny Cox grabbed the only goal of the game, with Swansea creating a plethora of chances, but unable to convert any of them. Cameron Burgess and Zan Vipotnik had their goals chalked off by the match officials, with Ronald, Goncalo Franco, Melker Widell and Cameron Congreve all coming close to netting. It had been a goalless first half, despite the Swans' chances, but just 90 seconds after the second half started, Cox slotted in a low cross after the ball was worked down the left channel. For Burgess' disallowed goal, he'd met a corner with his head, only for the assistant referee to raise his flag for a foul on an Exeter player in the box. With Vipotnik's effort, it was a powerful volley from Josh Tymon's free-kick that found its way into the back of the net. However, the linesman flagged for a foul before the ball nestled into the goal. Wales international Liam Cullen turned out for Swansea, with his free-kick coming close in the second period. He was replaced by Ollie Cooper with just a few minutes to play. Swans defender Josh Key played against his former club, returning to the club's ground for the first time in two years. Lawrence Vigouroux was on hand to provide a superb save after Finnish winger Ilmari Niskanen cut in from the left flank and fired from distance, with Vigouroux pushing the ball over the bar. Swansea kept creating chances right until the end of the match, but were unable to successfully execute any of their attacking play. For Exeter, they remain unbeaten in pre-season, with man of the moment Sweeney playing 30 minutes as he prepares for a 10th season with the club. Speaking about the club's transfer dealings to WalesOnline previously, Sheehan admitted Swansea probably need a few more names in the squad before the window closes. “We've done our business early, which is quite good, and I still think we need a few more bodies, which is quite obvious," he said. "But there's been a big turnover, a number of people have left the building, and we've brought in some good players. "We just have to look at where the squad — and the depth of the squad — is to see where we're at, really. "These are all games for learning." "I think you look at where we are," he adds, when asked if the club are close to further signings. "There will be people leaving the building and there will be people coming in, but I think it's good to do your business quietly, and when the time is right, you guys will be the first to know."
