On the 18th, T2, a developer of autonomous trucks, announced that it has raised ¥5 billion in a pre-Series B round. Investors include Usami Koyu, NX・TC Lease & Finance, Environmental Energy Investment, Suzuyo, Japan Post Capital, Fukuyama Transporting, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, Mitsui-Soko Logistics, and Mitsubishi Estate, bringing the total funding to ¥11.07 billion. Founded in 2022, the company aims to launch a mainline transportation service using Level 4 autonomous trucks, which do not require a driver on board, by 2027, in response to the worsening driver shortage known as the “2024 Problem.” T2 develops everything in-house from vehicle control software to operation management systems, aiming for full automation of long-distance transportation by combining autonomous driving within logistics hubs and remote monitoring technology. In July 2025, the company began commercial operations of Level 2 autonomous trucks, accumulating safety and operational efficiency data through demonstration. The funds raised will be allocated to expanding the commercial operation system of Level 2 vehicles, hiring personnel, and mass production design of Level 4-compatible hardware and software development. This will accelerate algorithm improvements based on actual operational data, aiming for the implementation of Level 4 services by 2027. To date, the company has raised a total of ¥6.07 billion in pre-Series A and Series A rounds, further advancing the development and commercialization phase with additional investment from existing shareholders. via PR TIMES
