TAMBUL station in Western Highlands Province was packed to capacity as people from all around the province flocked in to mourn the death of one of the elites in the province.
Joseph Kanol is an elite from Tambul who worked as managing director of Milum Group of Companies in Ok Tedi, Western Province, who died last month.
His casket flew from Port Moresby to Mt Hagen and a number of vehicles convoyed from Kagamuga airport to Tambul on Monday where the people from Tambul mourned.
Next week the orgainsing committees will arrange for his final funeral service followed by his burial.
Mourners from all over Western Highlands, including different tribes and clans in Tambul/Nebilyer district went to mourn Kanol’s death and share their sorrow with his immediate family, clans and tribesmen.
Mourners from the neighbouring Imbonggu district in Southern Highlands Province also came in numbers to show their respect.
This week prominent leaders including Governor Wai Rapa, Tambul-Nebilyer MP and Commerce Minister Win Daki, Attorney General and Justice Minister Pila Niningi, Western Highlands Provincial Administrator Joseph Mangbil, former Tambul/Nebilyer MP Thomas Nekints, former pioneer Western Highlands premier Sir Nambuga Mara and others joined the mourners.
All mourners contributed cash and kind in Highlands traditional culture to show their respect.
