Tamim Iqbal Lashes Out At BCB Over Towhid Hridoy's Suspension Controversy: "Laughable Inconsistency'
@Source: timesnownews.com
Former Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal lashed out at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) over the controversy following the suspension of Towhid Hridoy, who was suspended for two matches in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). For the unversed, Hridoy was suspended for his misconduct towards the umpire during a DPL game, however, he surprisingly returned to the field after serving just a one-game ban. This created a huge controversy, after which BCB reinstated the second match of his suspension—an action Tamim strongly opposed. Appearing before the media for the first time since suffering a cardiac scare earlier this month, Tamim slammed the board for “laughable inconsistency” in the disciplinary process. “He already served his punishment. Then he played two matches, and now suddenly he’s suspended again? Under what law is this being done? It’s laughable. You can’t suspend someone again after allowing him to play,” Tamim said outside the BCB office in Mirpur, where several national players had gathered for a private discussion earlier in the day. Tamim also lashed out at the board for failing to address key issues like alleged match-fixing in DPL. He expressed disappointment over the leaking of confidential information to the media, raising questions about the board's functioning. Tamim's bold stance has sparked a debate in the Bangladesh cricket fraternity about the need for BCB to improve transparency, consistency, and accountability in its disciplinary and administrative processes.
