Jurassic Beach: Dinosaurs are taking over the cliffs above South Carlsbad State Beach at a Jurassic Beach activation. This free event is an interactive exhibit showcasing life-sized animatronic dinosaurs. There are 13 public stations featuring 14 dinosaurs, including 4.9-foot-tall dinosaur eggs, a 4.4-foot-long Tyrannosaurus rex skull, fossils and an animated 5.2-foot-tall volcano. 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Now through May 5. Automobile showcase: More than 170 classic and modern cars will be showcased at the 19th Annual La Jolla Concours d’Elegance. This three-day event features free and ticketed activities. It all kicks off with a VIP ticketed party that highlights food from over 20 local restaurants and chefs, cocktails, live music and vintage cars on display at the Ellen Browning Scripps Park. On day two, the public can visit the event free of charge and see classic and contemporary cars on display on Prospect Street in the La Jolla Village. Sunday brings more than 120 rare automobiles, such as American hot rods and historic race cars to Ellen Browning Scripps Park for a ticketed event. 6 to 10 p.m. Friday. 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. WOW Festival: La Jolla Playhouse’s eighth immersive Without Walls Festival will return to the campus of UC San Diego next week with 25 different shows of theater, music, visual art, puppetry, dance and children’s entertainment presented over four days. Lakeside Rodeo: Rodeo fans can grab their chaps, boots and cowboy hats to get ready for the 61st Annual Lakeside Rodeo. The event features competitions such as bull riding, barrel racing and team roping. There will also be themed events, including childhood cancer awareness night, patriotic night, denim night and first responders appreciation day. Mission Fed ArtWalk: In Little Italy, the 41st edition of the Mission Fed ArtWalk is taking place this weekend. This celebration of fine art fills India Street with more than 250 visual artists, interactive art for families, food vendors and four music stages. Escondido Renaissance Faire: Take a trip back to the 16th century and enjoy activities, food and drinks from the Elizabethan Era for the next two weekends at the Escondido Renaissance Faire. Guests with tickets can see archery and jousting tournaments, battle reenactments, knights, pirates and various characters from the 16th century. There will also be live musical entertainment, clothing vendors, turkey legs, ale beer, wine, mead and weapon and trinket shops. Art Alive 2025 kicks off in Balboa Park: San Diego Museum of Art’s annual Art Alive exhibition returns next week, where guest floral designers create more than 100 botanical displays inspired by the art in the Balboa Park museum’s collection. This year, for the first time in 44 years, the designers will also be creating botanical art inspired by architecture. The central creation will be a large-scale floral design created in the museum’s rotunda by husband and wife artists Natasha Lisitsa and Daniel Schultz. Tequila, tacos and music: Musicians Timbaland and B.o.B headline the Tequila and Taco Music Festival at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Marine Science Day: The Marine Ecology and Biology Student Association (MEBSA) at San Diego State University is hosting a family-friendly, free educational event for the public. At MEBSA’s Marine Science Day, there will be interactive activities, games, water tanks with marine life that the public can touch, scuba diving demos, research talks, seminars from scientists, raffle prizes and a food truck. Live music brunch: Barleymash is introducing its Wake ‘n Bacon Brunch on Sundays with live music. Rotating live musicians will come in and play music for three hours. The brunch is created by chefs Kevin Templeton and Rose Lane. It contains dishes such as chilaquiles, French toast, chicken in a biscuit, a bourbon barbecue burger, a pretzel Benedict and poke nachos. The beverage menu features a Bloody Mary, a spicy michelada, champagne and cold brew coffee.
