A killer who stabbed a dad-to-be to death, a care home manager and a drugs and firearms trafficker who fled to Portugal were among the criminals from across Merseyside who were jailed this month. Also locked up was an EncroChat user known as "Big Sh**ger".
Meanwhile, Liverpool Crown Court heard that a thug nicknamed "Beefy" went to the pub and smashed the bar up with a golf club before telling the manager "I'll f***ing bury you". Here are the faces of 67 criminals from our region who were imprisoned during March:
Stewart Warburton
A man bought a toy gun and body armour online and took them to Wetherspoons. Stewart Warburton dropped the imitation firearm from a holster on his person as he was being searched by police in the pub.

The former toy shop worker claimed he had armed and dressed himself in such a way as he believed "three or four people were after him", having found himself living on the streets. And his online bargain hunting has now landed him in a prison cell.
Warburton admitted possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he was jailed for a year.
Kishan Patel
A care home manager sourced the phone numbers of young women from their job applications before bombarding them with months of sexually explicit and threatening calls. Kishan Patel interviewed his four victims as potential candidates for roles within the sector before subjecting them to dozens of anonymous abusive phone calls in the early hours.
He even threatened to break into the home of one of the unsuspecting applicants and rape her. Each was left baffled as to the identity of their stalker until he slipped up and revealed his true identity by forgetting to withhold his phone number.
Patel admitted four counts of stalking involving serious alarm or distress. Appearing in the dock wearing a navy blue suit over a shirt and tie, he was jailed for three years.
A teenager has promised a judge he will "never commit an offence like this again" after slashing a phone shop worker in the face amid a row over a refund. The business owner was left permanently scarred and requiring 40 stiches after Leon Moss became irate over a defective mobile he had purchased from the store two days previously.
When the victim offered to repair the device instead of giving him his money back, the thug viciously lashed out at him with a knife over the counter. He now says he is "trying his best to try to change his life around".
Moss admitted wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he was jailed for eight years and handed an additional two years on extended licence.
Paul, Donte and Brandon Ishola
Three drug-dealing brothers were snared in a county lines investigation into drug dealing and exploitation. Paul Ishola was sentenced to four-and-a-half years for possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply, while Donte and Brandon Ishola both received two-and-a-half years for being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
A man was sent to prison because of what he pulled from his trousers in a shop. Zack Wylde wandered into a shop wearing all black with his face covered and threatened staff with a large kitchen knife, which he removed from his waistband.
The 20-year-old then demanded cash from the till. He pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and possession of a bladed weapon and was jailed for four years.
Michael Jones
A man has been jailed after the discovery of a jar containing heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine with a street value of up to £8,500. Michael Jones received six years behind bars after detectives from the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit discovered the stash of drugs in a garage in his back garden.
Stephen Wager
A drunk man called 999 and falsely reported that a gang of men with guns were raiding a pub. Stephen Wager spent the evening drinking in the premises before inventing an incident which saw police rush to the scene.
After being arrested in a takeaway, he told officers that he would make hoax phone calls "all night long" if he could. A judge told the convicted sex offender that he has "no faith that he will stop offending unless he realises that there are consequences" for his actions, having been "given chances" in the past but squandered them.
Wager admitted causing wasteful employment of police and breaching a suspended sentence order. Appearing in the dock wearing a white hoodie and sporting short dark hair, he was jailed for six months.
Keith Bateman
A domestic abuser hid evidence in a bag of vomit when the police came knocking at his door. Keith Bateman bombarded his ex-girlfriend with a series of vile messages following the end of her relationship and sent her pictures of himself inside her house after he had broken in.
The 38-year-old admitted stalking causing fear of violence. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool wearing a black Hugo Boss jumper and glasses, he was jailed for nine months.
Salih Mahmoudi
A rapist was arrested on London Road after returning to the scene of his "evil" crime two days later. Salih Mahmoudi violently raped a sex worker in a derelict car park, leaving her begging for him to stop until he silenced her by placing his hand into her mouth.
The dad then chased his half naked victim through the streets of Liverpool city centre as she fled in terror. When quizzed by the police after being linked to the attack by his DNA, he described the incident as being "evil sex".
Mahmoudi, who was assisted by a Kurdish interpreter, admitted rape and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he was jailed for seven years and six months and handed an extended licence period of four years.
Elliot Weston
A gang of thugs shouted "you f***ing rat" as they stabbed a man in the back with a corkscrew. Elliot Weston and James Hutchinson left their victim with a punctured lung after "jumping" him in the street.
The vicious assault came the night after the former was involved in an knife related disturbance at a pub. He was also caught handling a JD Sports bag containing a machete on another occasion, which he attempted to pass off by claiming that he "thought it contained alcohol".
Weston admitted unlawful wounding, possession of a bladed article in a public place and breaching a non-molestation order. Appearing via video link to Rowan View Hospital, he was handed a section 37 hospital order.
Hutchinson, who appeared in the dock using a crutch and with his right leg in a frame, also pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding. The 26-year-old, of Sycamore Road in Tranmere, will be sentenced on Tuesday, and was remanded into custody until this date after showing up for the hearing 10 minutes late.
Ross McGinn, Andrew Roberts, Graham Roberts, Greg Black, Lewin Charles, Aiden Doran and Colin White
A company registered as a legitimate business carrying out groundwork on streets was actually diverting electricity into cannabis farms run by Albanian drug gangs. The company, Elev8 Civils and Utilities Ltd, was involved in at least 54 events in which electricity was abstracted from the street to enable grows in a plot which was hatched in the north west but stretched across the UK.
The operation, which was run by Ross McGinn and Andrew Roberts, carried out the crude and sometimes dangerous work over a three-year period before their plot was unravelled following a North West Regional Organised Crime Unit investigation codenamed Operation Spark. Greg Black, Lewin Charles, Aiden Doran, Graham Roberts, Jack Sherry and Colin White were recruited to help put the plan into motion.
Each defendant apart from White was convicted of assisting the the production of cannabis and conspiracy to abstract electricity. Andrew Roberts, McGinn and White also fell to be sentenced for conspiracy to steal, while the latter further pleaded guilty to assisting the abstraction of electricity.
McGinn was sentenced to five years and four months and Andrew Roberts was handed six years. Graham Roberts was given five years and three months.
Black was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison. Charles was handed an imprisonment of two years and eight months and Doran was given three years.
White was sentenced to two years and six months. Sherry received a 22-month imprisonment suspended for 18 months and 100 hours of unpaid work.
Adam Francis
A man has been jailed for raping a woman. Adam Francis denied the rape but was found guilty after a trial and sentenced to eight years behind bars.
Daniel Beckett
A domestic abuser's crimes were revealed after he crashed into his neighbours' cars while more than four times over the limit. Delivery driver Daniel Beckett's vicious assault on his wife only halted when his nine-year-old step daughter pleaded with him to stop attacking her mum.
Having been taken in by his mum, the dad-of-four then went on to break his step father's back before telling him that he "loved him". The self-employed workman has "essentially lost his livelihood" after nearly 50 years on the tools as a result of his injuries.
Beckett was found guilty of intentional strangulation and assault by beating by a jury following a trial, but admitted unlawful wounding and drink driving. Wearing a grey prison issue jumper in the dock with his grey hair tied back in a bun, he was jailed for four years and nine months.
Emma Miller
A woman battered a police officer with his own baton as she was arrested for shoplifting. Emma Miller managed to disarm the PC of his truncheon, radio and the key to his handcuffs after he encountered her selling stolen goods in an alleyway in Liverpool city centre
She went on to use all three items as weapons in order to attack him, as well as repeatedly kneeing him in the groin. It came after she complained that he was "hurting her" as she was being detained on suspicion of theft.
Miller admitted wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. Appearing via video link to HMP Styal, she was seen wiping tears away as she was jailed for 30 months.
Paul Turton
A dad got "off his head" on cocaine and alcohol at a festival and attacked his neighbour with a broom. Paul Turton showed up at the woman's door with an "evil look on his face" after she had taken in his partner, whom he had allegedly "battered" earlier in the evening.
The Good Samaritan has now been left with a permanent scar to her face after she was "knocked for six" by the swinging brush. A judge today labelled his behaviour as "disgraceful" and told him that he had been "motivated by anger".
Turton admitted unlawful wounding and assault. Appearing in the dock wearing a black coat over a black hoodie, he was jailed for 17 months and handed a three-year restraining order.
Lee Harrison
Lee Harrison was caught with a "zombie machete" after being stopped by police in a BMW. Officers recovered the "ugly looking object" from his bedroom after he had attempted to hide a bag of drugs by kicking it underneath the car.
This led to Harrison pleading that it was "just a little tiny bit of ketamine". But, having previously been handed a "lengthy custodial sentence" for his involvement in a heroin and crack cocaine supply operation, he will not face any additional jail time over the discovery.
Harrison admitted possession of an offensive weapon in a private place and possession of ketamine. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool wearing a navy blue tracksuit top, he was sentenced to eight weeks in prison by the magistrates panel.
However, this term will be served concurrently to an imprisonment of five years he was handed earlier this year for drug trafficking offences. Harrison responded by saying "so it runs with this one, yeah?" and putting his thumb up to the camera, with forfeiture and destruction of the machete and ketamine also being ordered.
Daniel Albertina
A boy was "knocked sick" after catching a taxi driver filming him using the toilet at an Odeon cinema. Police uncovered a string of disturbing crimes committed by Daniel Albertina after he was caught in the act videoing the teenager on his mobile phone underneath the walls of a cubicle.
This included secretly recording a girl as she showered and collecting a vile stash of indecent images of children. The paedophile sat with his head in his hands in court yesterday as he was exposed as a "monster" who had led a "secret life" of depravity.
Albertina admitted two counts of voyeurism, four charges of possession of indecent images of children, nine offences of making indecent images and four matters of possession of extreme pornographic images. Appearing in the dock wearing a turquoise jumper, he was seen with his head in his hands at times during the hearing before he was jailed for 18 months.
A rapist was left in tears in court after he sexually assaulted a sleeping woman at a Travelodge hotel. James Cox subjected his victim to the "horror" attack the morning after he had binged on alcohol and cocaine.
Police then attended his room to find him bloodied, having self-harmed with a shard of glass. A judge has now told him that he will have to "live with the shame for the rest of his life".
Cox admitted one count of rape. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool wearing a grey Under Armour tracksuit top, he was seen wiping tears away as he was jailed for five years and three months.
Luke Devine
A thug held an angle grinder to his own sister's neck before striking her over the head with the fearsome weapon. Luke Devine warned his sibling that her children were "getting it" while wielding the saw during a furious argument, which occurred only two days after their mum had died.
He was subsequently arrested in a cemetery while still in possession of the tool. A judge told him that he "couldn't think of many things more terrifying" than the ordeal he had subjected her to, with the mother having been forced to tell her children that she had been involved in a car crash in order to explain her injuries.
Devine admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm, making threats to kill, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and criminal damage. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he was jailed for two years and handed a three-year restraining order.
Stephen Kearney
A dad told police that he "wasn't thinking clearly" after breaking into his ex-girlfriend's house and stealing her underpants. Stephen Kearney also helped himself to cigarettes and vapes after cutting his way through her back door in the early hours using tools from her garden shed.
His taking of her knickers has sparked "concerns about some sort of sexual obsession", despite his attempts to pass off the theft as part of a bizarre attempt to stem bleeding from an apparent cut. Having been a "hard working, law abiding man" as recently as four years ago, he sat with his head in his hands yesterday after "things began going wrong" and led him to a prison cell.
Kearney admitted burglary, two counts of harassment and possession of cannabis. Appearing via video link to HMP Altcourse wearing a navy blue Montirex t-shirt, he was seen with his head in his hands at times during the hearing as he jailed for 20 months and handed a new five-year restraining order.
Iain Barton
A care worker said that he "deserved to go to jail" after impregnating a vulnerable woman at the home where he worked and a judge agreed. Iain Barton was "there to protect" the service user, who suffers from severe mental health issues, but instead "exploited" her by repeatedly engaged in sexual activity with her over a period of around six months while "feigning a relationship" with her.
His crimes only came to light when he left his post after nearly 20 years of working in the role. She was meanwhile put through the ordeal of having to undergo an abortion due to medical issues with her unborn baby, an experience which she labelled "one of the worst things she has had to do".
Barton admitted five counts of sexual activity with a person with a mental disorder by a care worker. Appearing in the dock wearing a grey checked shirt and sporting short grey hair, he was jailed for three years.
Perry Culshaw
A drugs and firearms trafficker fled to Portugal when the net began to close in on him but was left shaking his head in court as he was finally forced to face up to his crimes. Perry Culshaw utilised encrypted communications platform EncroChat to source an "arsenal" of weapons while also trading wholesale quantities of heroin, cocaine and cannabis.
The 31-year-old admitted conspiracy to transfer prohibited weapons and ammunition and conspiracy to supply heroin, cocaine and cannabis. Appearing in the dock wearing a grey Under Armour tracksuit, he shook his head as he was jailed for 19 years.
Lewis Langan
A serving soldier's army career ended in shame after he was caught red-handed dealing cocaine from his Ford Fiesta. Lewis Langan was apparently put to work in the drugs trade after "damaging someone's property" and left owing a debt as a result.
The 29-year-old admitted possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of criminal property and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. Appearing via video link to HMP Altcourse wearing a shirt and tie, he was jailed for two years and three months.
Kelly Kavanagh
A mum confessed that "using knives is her go-to thing when she's angry". Kelly Kavanagh made the startling admission after swinging such a weapon towards the head of another woman at their hostel amid a row over the victim's boyfriend.
Having sobered up, she then labelled her actions as "disgusting". She was left kissing and hugging her children goodbye as she was locked up over the incident.
Kavanagh admitted making threats with a bladed article and possession of a bladed article in a public place. She leant over the dock to hug and kiss her sons and several other supporters after she was jailed for 16 months and handed a 12-month serious violence reduction order.
Philip Daltry
A paedophile claimed that he "forgot" about the sickening crimes which he committed nearly 20 years ago while leaving a girl "frozen in time". Philip Daltry, a musician who has performed as a singer and guitarist at venues around the city for decades, groomed the teenager with alcohol, cigarettes, CDs and mobile phone top-ups after befriending her on MSN Messenger in the mid-noughties.
The dad then went on to sexually abuse her over the course of several months, even going to the lengths of phoning her school while posing as her dad so that she could skip classes. He now says that he "looks back at that time in his life with great regret".
Daltry admitted five counts of sexual activity with a child. Appearing in the dock wearing a black jacket over a burgundy shirt, he showed no reaction as he was jailed for four-and-a-half years.
Ciaran Clark
A predator booked a hotel to meet a 12-year-old girl for sex. Ciaran Clark was caught in the act by an undercover officer pretending to be the in an online chatroom.
The 46-year-old pleaded guilty guilty to arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. He was jailed for 10 years.
A man has been jailed after what police found on him during a stop search. Mark Evans was found to be in possession of 65 wraps of crack cocaine and 39 wraps of heroin when police stopped him on Eastbank Street in Southport.
The 37-year-old was convicted of possession of crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply. He was sentenced to five years and seven months.
John Thompson
A "despicable" man who sexually assaulted a girl under 13 has been jailed for five years. John Thompson was convicted of three offences of sexual assault against a child under 13 and one of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
Peter Wilson, Paul Wilson and Andrew Brennan
Two brothers plotted to import and supply millions of pounds of drugs and illegal cigarettes. Peter Wilson used encrypted communications platform EncroChat to smuggle cocaine into the UK from the Netherlands, with his younger brother Paul also becoming embroiled within the scheme while utilising the handle "Big Sh**ger".
The former's wife now says her husband has "let her down again" as he faces the prospect of being sent back to prison for a lengthy period. A third man, Andrew Brennan, meanwhile sourced more than £5million of illicit tobacco products, including "very good copies" of Mayfair and Chesterfield cigarettes from Greece and Belgium.
Brennan admitted conspiracy to supply cocaine and fraudulently evading the prohibition on tobacco. Appearing via video link to HMP Altcourse, he was jailed for eight years.
Peter Wilson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to fraudulently evade the prohibition on the importation of cocaine, conspiracy to supply cocaine and amphetamine and fraudulently evading the prohibition on tobacco. Also appearing remotely from HMP Liverpool, he was handed 10 years and eight months.
Paul Wilson admitted conspiracy to supply cocaine and ecstasy and fraudulently evading the prohibition on tobacco. Similarly appearing on the video link from Walton prison, he received nine years
Neale White
A thug attacked his girlfriend with a knife while she was cradling their three-year-old daughter. Neale White flew into a rage when his then partner poured the dregs of his drink down the sink, holding the weapon to her throat after warning her: "You're going to die."
The appalling incident also saw him barricade his victim and the young child inside a bedroom and smear his blood over them. The dad-of-three subsequently attempted to stab a police dog after the woman and her daughter managed to escape the terrifying ordeal.
White admitted two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, making threats to kill, assaulting an emergency services worker and threatening to destroy property. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool wearing a grey hooded top, he nodded as he was jailed for four years and handed a 10-year restraining order.
Anthony Judge
A dealer who hid behind the EncroChat handle "Busy Sage" had £48,000 of drug money stashed under a mattress in his bedroom. Anthony Judge his £48,000 in cash underneath a mattress in the bedroom of his plush flat near the Mersey and the Herculaneum "dockers' steps".
The 51-year-old was subsequently found to be involved in the supply of 34kg of cocaine, 42.5kg of heroin and 50kg of ketamine, as well as conspiring to import 500kg of ketamine. He was jailed for 16 years.
A man will spend seven years behind bars for dealing class A drugs. Daniel Rea was found guilty of being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine after he was linked to the the "Jay Jay" county line, which involved the supply of illicit substances in the Ellesmere Port area.
Graham Jones
A university educated pensioner who held down a good job and kept out of trouble for more than 60 years is now behind bars. Graham Jones had never found himself in trouble with the law before he began operating a "lucrative business" in the trafficking of "10 out of 10" drugs.
When the police came knocking at his door, they discovered cocaine and cannabis with a potential value above £20,000 and found evidence of previous deals worth thousands more still. He now says that his "judgement was clouded" by his use of the latter substance in order to medicate his epilepsy.
Jones admitted possession of cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply. Appearing in the dock wearing a white pinstriped shirt and glasses, he nodded as he was jailed for 32 months.
Paul Horner
A man lied to his family and tried to get away with what he did driving home before police caught up with him. Paul Horner nearly killed a cyclist when he struck him with his car near to a Shell petrol station.
The victim remained in hospital for several weeks after the collision in a life-threatening condition He ultimately survived the crash, but continues to be affected by the injuries he sustained.
Horner meanwhile failed to stop at the scene and drove all the way home in his badly damage Skoda Octavia. He later admitted causing serious injury by careless driving and was sentenced to eight months in prison.
Kevin Clark
A police officer who escorted two of the little girls who were killed during the Southport stabbings to the morgue was hit in the head with a flying brick during rioting the following day. A matter of hours after performing these harrowing duties following the murders of six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar, Sergeant Phillip Sinclair bravely stood on the frontline as missiles rained down upon him and his colleagues when widespread disorder erupted in the seaside town.
Kevin Clark was amongst the thugs who revelled in the violent scenes, hurling more than 20 objects towards PCs after travelling to the scene from his home in Wigan. One of these struck the officer in the head, sparking cheers and a torrent of abuse towards the victim when he collapsed to the floor.
Sergeant Sinclair, who had not been wearing a protective helmet at the time and whose daughter witnessed the shocking assault being livestreamed on social media, will never return to frontline duty as a result of the serious injuries he sustained. He still walks with the use of crutches eight months later, but told a court that the sick sounds of glee emanating from the crowd "hurt him the most".
Clark admitted unlawful wounding and violent disorder. Appearing in the dock wearing a dark green fleece and sporting short dark hair and a beard, he was jailed for three-and-a-half years and handed an additional 18-month extended licence period.
He will be required to serve at least two thirds of the custodial term behind bars before becoming eligible for release by the Parole Board. Clark turned to his supporters in the public gallery and said "see you later" after learning his fate.
Keith Rogers
A man nicknamed "Beefy" went to the pub and smashed the bar up with a golf club before telling the manager "I'll f***ing bury you". Keith Rogers was later found hiding out in a nearby garden after being turfed out by staff and customers at the outset of a four-month crime spree, which was apparently sparked by him discovering his partner being unfaithful in a wardrobe.
The serial shoplifter would eventually go on to threaten to blow up a police station and hit an officer's mum with a shovel. He has now been banned from a Morrisons supermarket for several years, having brandished a knife towards a worker when confronted over his theft of cans of Au Vodka.
Rogers admitted two offences of affray, racially aggravated threatening behaviour, three charges of assaulting an emergency services worker, two counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, three charges of criminal damage, two public order offences and three counts of theft. He was seen with his head in his hands at times during the hearing before he was jailed for 27 months.
Jamie Crawford
A teenager threw a shotgun into his next door neighbour's garden when a knifepoint robbery in Sefton Park brought the police to his door. Officers came knocking at Jamie Crawford's house after following a tracker on an electric bike which had been stolen during the incident the previous day.
The 19-year-old admitted possession of a prohibited weapon and handling stolen goods. Appearing in the dock wearing a grey Under Armour tracksuit, he showed no reaction as he was jailed for five years.
David Keating
A "callous" burglar was caught after detectives found his DNA on a bottle of Babycham. David Keating broke into the retirement flat of an elderly woman in Formby and stole jewellery of sentimental value, bottles of perfume, a blood pressure machine, electronic devices and money while the she was not home.
The 49-year-old also helped himself to food and alcohol, including and a bottle of Babycham and some brandy. Following a forensic examination, his was found on the Babycham bottle - forcing him to plead guilty to burglary and being sentenced to two years and five months in prison.
Corneliu Magureanu
A teenager's actions after he finished his shift in a pub early left his mum sobbing in court. Corneliu Magureanu became embroiled in violent scenes in Liverpool city centre days after six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar were stabbed to death during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class at the Hart Space in Southport.
This saw the then University of Chester student hurl abuse towards police officers and launch a rock in their direction outside John Lewis while clad in an England rugby shirt. Those few "seconds of madness" have now landed him in a prison cell.
Margureanu admitted violent disorder. Appearing in the dock wearing a black suit over a white shirt and turquoise tie, he was sentenced to 18 months in a young offenders' institute.
His mum was then seen in tears as she left the public gallery, sobbing after he son had been led down to the cells: "No, no, no. I'm not going out. I'm not going out. Where is he?"
Daniel Dunne
A man who was hiding a huge stash of money and cocaine in his house was caught after police stopped him for not wearing a seatbelt. A small wrap of white powder fell from Daniel Dunne's car when he was pulled over, with £600 in cash also found inside the vehicle.
Searches of his home then revealed a further £1,066,382 in cash and around a kilo of cocaine. He pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to supply and possession of criminal property and was jailed for seven years.
Ian Hannah, Steven Garbutt, Raja Ali and Sharukh Ali
A gang who hid £1million worth of drugs in citronella candles have been jailed for a combined total of nearly 20 years. Border Force officers seized a shipment of 182kg of cannabis resin, sent from Malaga and bound for a business premises in Bootle, at Tilbury Docks in Essex.
Ian Hannah pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import cannabis. Steven Garbutt, Raja Ali and Sharukh Ali were convicted of the same offence by a jury following a trial.
Ian Hannah was sentenced to four years and three months in prison, while Garbutt was locked up for six years. Raja Ali was sentenced to five years and six months and Sharukh Ali was imprisoned for four years.
Ben Ruddock
A man has been jailed after stabbing a dad to death after an argument over an e-bike. Ben Ruddock was found guilty of the manslaughter of 34-year-old Lloyd Velasquez and sentenced to 13 years in jail.
The 20-year-old armed himself with a knife from a barbecue set and told his victim to meet him at a park, leading to him driving away after a confrontation. But an another argument then ensured nearby, during which he was knifed in the chest and killed only nine weeks before the birth of his baby son.
Ruddock meanwhile ditched the knife in the garden of his home before changing his bloodstained clothes at another address. He subsequently took a taxi from Hapsford Services on the M56 to a third property, where he was arrested.
Robert Rawson
A man who subjected a woman to years of physical, emotional abuse and intimidation has been jailed. Robert Rawson's behaviour included preventing the victim from talking to her family and pulling her clothes down in public.
The 62-year-old also controlled the use her phone, tracked her movements, money and actions and demeaned her in front of her child and posted intimate images of her online. He pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour and perverting the course of justice and was sentenced to 30 months.
Thomas Birchmore, Gavin O'Connor and Ryan Williams
Three more men who took part in rioting last summer have been locked up. Thomas Birchmore was captured kicking a police vehicle and was sentenced to two years.
Gavin O'Connor was seen throwing missiles at police officers throughout the riots and was jailed for two years and eight months in prison. Ryan Williams, who threw bricks at police and a mosque, was handed one year and 10 months.
A thug glassed two students during a brawl at a Smithdown Road pub. Mark Nolan had visited the bar in order to watch a football match on the television but instead turned violent after downing up to seven bottles of beer, two of which he thrust into the faces of his victims.
The episode was sparked after a woman made an accusation of sexual assault against his cousin Raymond Perry, who himself launched a bar stool towards one of the injured men after he had been left with a broken cheekbone and permanently scarred. The aspiring dentist says that "could have been blinded or killed" as a result of the attack.
Nolan was found guilty of wounding with intent by a jury following a trial, having previously admitted unlawful wounding and affray. Wearing a grey Under Armour tracksuit top in the dock, he was jailed for five-and-a-half years.
Perry pleaded guilty to affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Appearing in the dock in a pale blue top and with his left arm in a sling, having injured himself when he "slipped at home when arousing from sleep and fell awkwardly", he was handed nine-month imprisonment suspended for 18 months plus 180 hours of unpaid work and a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to 15 days.
Idris Vickers
A county lines drug boss was jailed in connection with the supply of heroin and crack cocaine. Idris Vickers was identified as being the controller of a graft phone that was used to peddle drugs to users in the L8 area of the city.
The operation was valued at between £32,112 and £80,280. The 53-year-old was locked up for five years and three months for being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to supply and possession of criminal property.
Connor Pennell
A "dangerous" rapist's crimes were caught on a baby monitor. Connor Pennell was jailed for nine-and-a-half years after detectives uncovered footage through a camera monitor that was saved to his phone showing the horrific rape of a woman.
Gareth Dunne
A man was chased out of Hollywood Bowl by a "baying mob" while being called a "nonce" before being kicked unconscious. Gareth Dunne twice booted the innocent victim, who had falsely been accused of "trying to abduct a child", to the face outside the bowling alley on Edge Lane.
He suffered a bleed on the brain and spent days in hospital as a result, as well as being arrested as the police investigated the unfounded allegations made against him. A judge told his attacker that he had "taken the law into his own hands" and "appointed himself judge, jury and executioner".
Dunne admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and battery. Appearing in the dock wearing a black jumper over a white shirt, he looked to the ceiling and breathed a deep sigh as he was jailed for 18 months before turning to a man in the public gallery and telling him: "Phone my mum. Tell my mum."
Steven Naylor
A heroin and cocaine dealer's customers pestered him with messages "asking him if he was on" but he was already under arrest. Steven Naylor has now been sent to prison for a fourth time for drug trafficking offences after being identified as the controller of a "sophisticated and busy" supply line.
The 45-year-old admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin and cocaine, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance. Appearing via video link to HMP Altcourse, he nodded as he was jailed for five years and eight months and disqualified from driving for a further four years and 10 months.
Steven Osbourne
A rapist who subjected a man to a harrowing assault hours after meeting him on Grindr branded his victim a "f***ing rat" as he was kicked out of court. Steven Osbourne attacked the complainant as soon as he had lured him back to his flat, subjecting him to a "prolonged and violent" ordeal.
The "manipulative and predatory" Harvester restaurant chef then left him covered in blood after headbutting him when he tried to escape. He was today brought to justice over his appalling crimes, but delivered a series of foul mouthed tirades from the dock before he was removed from the courtroom.
Osbourne was found guilty of three counts of rape following a trial but admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Appearing in the dock wearing a grey Nike tracksuit, he was jailed for 12 years and handed an additional five years on licence.
Dylan and Scott Howard
A night out in the pub took an ugly turn when an uncle and nephew launched a vicious joint attack on an unsuspecting victim. Dylan Howard, 23, held the helpless man in a headlock while Scott Howard, 35, violently kicked and stamped on his head.
Both admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm. They were sentenced to one year and four months in prison and four years behind bars respectively.
