Tourism Fiji’s 2025 Super Week comes to a close today after discussions and workshop focused around the theme “Veisolisoli for Success: Sharing Knowledge, Building Futures”. Opening the event on Monday, Robert Thompson, Executive Director of Regions at Tourism Fiji, highlighted noted that the week aimed to equip local operators with the tools, insights, and connections to grow and adapt in a rapidly changing tourism market. “Whether you’re focused on land-based excursions, marine activities, village experiences, or cruise-ready offerings, the demand for unique, authentic, values-led travel is growing, and Fiji is incredibly well-placed to meet that demand,” he stated. The 2025 Super Week included sessions on product development, digital marketing, pricing, sustainability, and readiness for trade. “Our goal is not just to offer practical support but to create space for collaboration, dialogue, and progress,” Thompson added. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, acknowledged the hard work of the tourism sector in Fiji and underscored the importance of inclusive growth while opening the event. “We are gathered here by something far more powerful than professional obligation. That invisible thread connecting us all is Veisolisoli – the living spirit of reciprocal growth that has sustained our islands for generations.” “What truly sets Fiji apart in a crowded global market? It lives in the human moments we create,” Gavoka remarked. He pointed to the connections fostered through the tourism industry, from veteran hoteliers advising village homestay operators, to visitors becoming part of Fiji’s extended family. Gavoka also emphasised the significance of sustainability and the integration of traditional knowledge into modern tourism practices. “This ancient wisdom is now our modern competitive edge,” he concluded. The Fiji Tourism Exchange, which brings together tourism operators, leaders, buyers and media, will be held in Nadi next week, from Monday May 12- Tuesday May 13.
