Trump launches new wave of US airstrikes on Iran-backed Houthis; heavy smoke rises in Yemen
@Source: indiatimes.com
Fresh smoke rose over Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, after reports of U.S. airstrikes on March 28, 2025. Houthi-controlled media reported airstrikes hitting key locations in Sanaa and northwest Yemen. Targets included Sanaa International Airport and a military command post in the Al-Tahrir district. The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV called the attacks "U.S. aggression," but casualties remain unclear. U.S. airstrikes against the Houthis escalated on March 15, following Houthi attacks on shipping routes. Strikes were in retaliation for Houthi attacks on Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait shipping lanes. A leaked conversation among U.S. officials revealed little about the ongoing military operation in Yemen. The U.S. military has yet to confirm details about the number of strikes or the operation's objectives.
