Two men jailed after Volkswagen Golf R stolen in knifepoint robbery

A pair of robbers have been jailed following a scary ordeal in Staffordshire . Dylan Maskery Hurd, 19, and Callum Talbot, 23, threatened a man with a knife and demanded the keys to his Volkswagen Golf R. The incident took place after the duo spotted the car while they were riding on a moped on Brooke Road in Wombourne on September 11 last year. They took the man's car keys from his pocket and police later found the vehicle abandoned off Terrace Street in Brierley Hill. They were both sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday, March 21. Talbot was jailed for six years and Maskery Hurd was jailed for four years. Detective Sergeant Marc Proctor, from the Staffordshire Police City Proactive Team, said: "Two dangerous thieves have been taken off our streets after we launched an investigation into this robbery. "Dedicated officers are working hard every day across Staffordshire to robustly target those blighting local communities and this is another example of that." A spokesperson for the force said: "Two men have been jailed for a collective 10 years after a car was taken at knifepoint in Staffordshire. "Dylan Maskery Hurd, 19, of Abbey Hulton, Stoke-on-Trent and Callum Talbot, 23, of Featherstone, were riding on a moped on 11 September last year when they spotted a man getting out of a Volkswagen Golf R on Brooke Road, Wombourne. "One of them had a knife. They launched an attack on the victim after demanding his car keys and took them from his pocket. "Fortunately, the man was not seriously injured. "We later found the car abandoned on a car park off Terrace Street, Brierley Hill, near Dudley . "Officers from our City Proactive Team worked hard to capture all ofthe available evidence and identify the suspects from CCTV footage. "Maskery Hurd and Talbot were both charged and eventually pleaded guilty to robbery at their court appearance. They were both sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (21 March). "Talbot was jailed for six years and Maskery Hurd was jailed for four years."
