'Two Years Is Very Long Time': Ex-India Player Questions Rohit Sharma's Sustainability With Regards To 2027 ODI World Cup

Rohit Sharma recently became only the second Indian captain after MS Dhoni to win the T20 World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy. India recently defeated New Zealand in the summit clash of the Champions Trophy under Rohit Sharma's leadership. Interestingly, in the last three ICC events, the ODI World Cup (2023), World T20 (2024) and the Champions Trophy (2025), India have lost only one match, the finals of the ODI World Cup, against Australia.Sharma is just one more trophy away from replicating MS Dhoni's feat of winning all the three major ICC white ball trophies, but he'll have to make sure that he lasts till the ODI World Cup, that will be played in 2027 in South Africa.Aakash Chopra's Blunt Take On Rohit Playing 2027 ODI World CupRumour mills were set ablaze with speculations of Rohit retiring from ODIs after India won their third Champions Trophy. Former India opener Aakash Chopra addressed the issue while speaking on his YouTube Channel and said that Rohit is not getting any younger. 'Rohit said that he will continue to play ODIs for India, that is a great thing, but will he play in the 2027 World Cup? I feel he can play as well, but there ain't any guarantee about it.
