New York, August 8 (QNA) - The UN Security Council will hold an emergency session tomorrow, Saturday, to consider the Israeli occupation government's decision to reoccupy the entire Gaza Strip and forcibly displace its population. The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations Riyad Mansour, said in statements following his meeting Friday with Eloy Alfaro de Alba, the Permanent Representative of Panama to the United Nations and President of the Security Council for August, his consultations with Council members, and the meeting of the Council of Arab Ambassadors called for by the State of Palestine, that "the Security Council will hold an emergency session on Saturday, to discuss the repercussions of the Israeli occupation government's approval of the plan to reoccupy the entire Gaza Strip and forcibly displace its population." He said that the session will address the steps that prevent the occupation from implementing its plan to extend its full control over the Gaza Strip and to confront the plan to displace Palestinians in Gaza, which violates international legitimacy resolutions. Earlier Friday, the Israeli security cabinet approved a plan to reoccupy the Gaza Strip, expand military control over it, and displace its population of approximately 2.4 million people, amid widespread international condemnation and rejection of the operation.
