The Uttar Pradesh government is aiming to achieve NAAC accreditation for at least 25% of the state colleges by drastically improving their higher education quality by the end of the 2025–26 academic year. The big initiative is being steered by continuous efforts of the Higher Education Department and the Uttar Pradesh State-Level Quality Assurance Cell (UP-SLQAC). In order to achieve the desired results, 1,000 colleges have already been shortlisted for NAAC evaluation. Remarkably, six universities in the state already possess a prominent A++ grade under the NAAC assessment. Educational institutions will have to wrap up the evaluation process within the stipulated time frame. Speaking about the same, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that this initiative is a planned move towards improving the international reliability of UP’s educational institutions. He highlighted that this step will stimulate an improved academic environment, promote hiring of qualified teachers, and offer students access to nationally and globally recognised HEIs. This progressive drive sets a standard for quality assurance, transparency, and technology integration in the higher education sector.
