Volkswagen To Bring More Global Models In Indian Market, Here's What Brand Says

After successfully launching one of the most expensive offerings, the Tiguan R-Line, at Rs 48.99 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, the top carmaker Volkswagen is now gearing up to bring more global models to the country.
It has been reported that the comapny is trying to position itself as a premium brand for Indian customers, aiming to bring global technology and supply chain strength. The company said it has chosen the selective segment for a reason as it is a part of border strategy in the future under the premium midsize SUV segment.
Upcoming Launch
According to the reports, the company is now scheduled to add Golf GTI to its Indian fleet, and the launch is likely to take place somewhere in the next month this year. However, an exact is yet to be revealed by the brand.
Here’s What Top Official Says
As per the details shared by the Business Standard report, quoting Ashish Gupta, brand director at Volkswagen who said, “You have to monetize your competitive advantages. The segments we choose will align with that.” The statement has been made to clearly the premium segment strategy in India.
In addition, he said, “The premium entry-luxury SUV segment in India stands at around 3,500 to 4,000 units a month. That’s where we’re positioning the new-generation Tiguan R-Line. The vehicle brings strong road presence and is equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced technologies.”
