Toni Collette is still feeling the beat from that tambourine.
The actress shocked a group of her fans Friday, crashing a special screening of her 1994 classic Muriel's Wedding at the Glasgow Film Festival. After strutting through the theater, she took to the stage to join them, jamming out to ABBA's "Dancing Queen" — a personal favorite of her title character in the film.
Collette posted a video of her surprise cameo to Instagram, explaining how she ended up at the event. "I was invited to make a wee intro video for a screening of Muriel’s Wedding at the Glasgow Film Festival tonight," she wrote. "Instead, I hopped on a train from London and joined the dance!"
The casualness of Collette's explanation makes it sound like she was just in the neighborhood, but getting from London to Glasgow is no small feat — the two cities are 345 miles apart, and it takes at least four and a half hours to travel from one to the other.
Collette looked incredibly joyful in her video, and confirmed her exuberance in the caption. "I had no idea how much love would be in that room," she said. "Love for Muriel. Love for the film. And love for me. It was outrageously fun, and quite moving. When I was 20 I had no idea how this story would resonate all these years later. Wow, wow, wow. Thank you for having me. I'm truly touched."
Muriel's Wedding served as Collette's breakthrough film when she was in her early 20s. The Australian dramedy follows a lonely young woman who obsesses over the iconic Swedish pop group ABBA and fantasizes about getting married, despite having no real-life romantic prospects, as she struggles to leave her hometown.
The film launched the Hereditary star to immense success, with her quickly landed supporting roles in Gwyneth Paltrow movies like Emma and The Pallbearer before earning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for 1999's The Sixth Sense.
Muriel's Wedding's director P.J. Hogan also found success in the United States following the movie's glowing reception, helming movies like My Best Friend’s Wedding, Peter Pan, and Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Collette has been on a career roll since 2018's Hereditary, headlining shows like Unbelievable and The Staircase and starring in films like Rian Johnson's Knives Out, Charlie Kaufman's I'm Thinking of Ending Things, Guillermo del Toro's Nightmare Alley, and Clint Eastwood's Juror #2. She can currently be seen in Bong Joon Ho's Mickey 17, which is now playing in theaters.
