The Assistant Coach of the Black Satellites, Fatawu Salifu, has asserted that the upcoming WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations campaign is an opportunity for the team to redeem its reputation after missing out on the World Cup. It comes after the team exited the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. “Right before we returned from Egypt and after not qualifying for the World Cup, we got the information that we were going to play in the WAFU Cup, which is going to be in Ghana, where we believe that we were back to redeem our image after exiting from the tournament in Egypt,” he told ghanafa.org. The 3rd edition of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place in Ghana from July 10 to 23, 2025 Ghana’s opening game will begin with a clash against arch-rivals Nigeria at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on July 10, 2025. The Black Satellites will then face Benin on July 16 to complete their group fixtures. With only three teams in Group A, each team will play two matches. Reacting to Ghana’s group games, he said he would do all that it takes to beat the two countries and advance. “I think preparation has been so good so far since we returned. As I said, we are in camp; we train, day in, day out just to try to correct the things we did in Egypt and make sure that we are ready for this tournament, so preparation so far is so good.” In Group B, Cote D'Ivoire will square off against Burkina Faso in their opening match, while Niger takes on Togo on the second day of the tournament. The final match is set for July 23, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium. Source: https://opemsuo.com/author/hajara-fuseini
