Aston Villa manager Unai Emery wants more players in his squad to be as versatile as Morgan Rogers and John McGinn. Rogers has started all nine of the club’s Champions League matches so far this season, and all but one of the 29 Premier League fixtures, only missing the win over Leicester City due to suspension. McGinn, meanwhile, has covered a range of positions for the team since Unai Emery’s arrival as manager, either in advanced midfield roles or in the double pivot. Ahead of Villa’s clash with Club Brugge on Wednesday night, Emery was asked why - despite having so many attacking options - he is so dependent on Rogers, who has been one of the club’s players of the season. "Now football is changing, I appreciate players being versatile," Emery explained. "Ones who can change positions and understand different tactics. One of them in the squad is clearly Morgan Rogers, as well John McGinn. "This versatility and performance we always need, and is really very important. I am pushing other players to be versatile and adapt in case we need it. "Not every player is ready to do it, but with McGinn and Rogers, they are really always positive, and this versatility is really important for us. "The last match as well, we played in different positions with Morgan. He played striker, number 10, right side, left side. He is always performing very well because he is a player who understands tactically everything that we plan. "He has qualities as well to do it. I am always pushing to get more of him. Physically as well, he is keeping the level we need. Hopefully tomorrow he can play again for 90 minutes."
