Who is Harry Amass? Manchester United youngster given chance to impress vs Newcastle
@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Manchester United youngster Harry Amass will make his full Premier League debut for the club in Sunday’s clash against Newcastle United with him given a chance to impress by manager Ruben Amorim . The teenager has been named in the starting line up for the clash at st James’ Park. He replaces Patrick Dorgu in the starting XI with the January signing dropping to the bench in one of five changes to the lineup. Amass will now look to impress ahead of a crucial Europa League clash against Lyon on Thursday evening. United host the Ligue 1 side in the second leg of the quarter-final of the competition with the score from the first leg locked at 2-2. If Amass impresses against Newcastle then he could come into the thoughts of Amorim for the midweek clash. With that in mind, here is what you need to know about the youngster ahead of his full debut. Amass is an 18-year-old left-back who has come up through the United youth system since joining the club from Watford in the summer of 2023. He’s an England U18 international, and wore the captain’s armband for his country in the recent 1-0 win over Portugal last month. His current contract with United runs until the summer of 2027. Amass has played in several different competitions so far this season. He has made 10 appearances in Premier League 2, with two assists. Other appearances have also come in the FA Youth Cup, the UEFA Youth League, the EFL Trophy and the U18 Premier League. This season has also seen him make his first team debut for United, coming on for the final 20 minutes of the 3-0 away win against Leicester City in the Premier League last month. He has, though, been an unused substitute on a number of occasions throughout the campaign. According to Football Talent Scout , Amass is described as a complete offensive-orientated full-back/playmaking full-back. He is also described as an “intelligent player who doesn’t push forward at every opportunity but rather picks his moments carefully and times his attacking runs very well.” He is also praised for his footwork and is said to be very comfortable in possession, which suits a possession-based style.
