Why Savinho misses Bournemouth game amid Man City injury issues

Manchester City were missing six players for their FA Cup game with Bournemouth as Savinho added to the absentees. The Brazilian was not spotted getting off the bus as Pep Guardiola and his players arrived for their crunch quarter-final.
However, rather than joining their injury problems Savinho was missing for more positive reasons. The 20-year-old has been granted time off after his wife gave birth to their first child on Friday.
Manu Akanji, Nathan Ake, Oscar Bobb, John Stones and Rodri remain sidelined with injuries as Guardiola looks to give City supporters something to cheer about in the final weeks of the season. The Blues boss has been clear that winning the FA Cup would not rescue their season but wants the players to show they are capable of going all the way again as they try to end their disappointing campaign with some more silverware.
“We have incredible things ahead of us. The season is still there, the last part, two months," he said on Friday. “We will finish with the Premier League and the FA Cup and after that we start the new season with the (Club) World Cup.
“So we finish these two competitions and the season will be over here and we refresh a few weeks and then we go to the World Cup to start the next season. This is the target I have.”
In the absence of Savinho, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden start on the wings at Bournemouth supporting Erling Haaland in attack. Jeremy Doku, Omar Marmoush, Jack Grealish and James McAtee are attacking options off the bench.
Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Mateo Kovacic make up the midfield, with £59m January arrival Nico Gonzalez on the bench. Matheus Nunes starts at right-back with Abdukodir Khusanov, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol continuing in defence and Ederson gets the nod in goal.
The winners of Sunday's clash at the Vitality Stadium have been drawn to play Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final. Forest made it past Brighton on penalties on Saturday.
Forest claimed victory over City earlier this month at the City Ground and are flying high in the Premier League too, although Bournemouth have also beaten the Blues this season and will be looking to earn their spot at Wembley at the expense of Guardiola's side.
