They're never allowed to have their feelings. Not as little boys and not when they grow up. The worst part is realizing that it's partly women in the role of mothers reinforcing these ideas. I know it's clichéd to blame everything wrong with men on their mothers, but sometimes it really is their mothers. They think they're doing what's best for their kid, but all they do is emotionally cripple them for life. It's heartbreaking. I have so much respect and sympathy for the men who managed to overcome that kind of upbringing to become emotionally whole people. Society does this to men, and we all make up society.
