The Masimanyane Women’s Rights International has expressed concern about the developments in the Judicial Tribunal hearing of the Eastern Cape Judge President, Selby Mbenenge.
The organisation says it is unhappy with the lack of accountability for the harm that has been done, not just to the complainant but to women across South Africa.
Mbenenge is facing a misconduct investigation by the Judicial Conduct Tribunal, which could lead to his impeachment over alleged sexual harassment of Judges’ secretary Andiswa Mengo.
The director of Masimanyane, Dr Lesely Ann Foster, says the way the tribunal is handling the issue shows disregard for women.
