You season 5 trailer teases 'killer finale' as Netflix release date confirmed

All eyes on Joe Goldberg, because the end is finally here.
Netflix has just unveiled the official trailer for You Season 5 – and if you thought things couldn’t get any darker, think again.
This final season sees Penn Badgley’s charmingly unhinged serial killer return to where it all began: New York City. But he’s no longer the quiet bookshop manager lurking in the shadows – now, he’s got power, money, and a high-profile wife in Kate Lockwood (Charlotte Ritchie). The stakes have never been higher, and with Joe’s past sins threatening to catch up with him, fans are in for one last, blood-soaked ride.
He's taken us on a murderous journey from America to London, where he encountered his second wife Kate Galvin (brought to life by Charlotte Richie), amidst a trail of bloodshed. With fans eagerly awaiting Thursday, April 24, for the show's return, the new official trailer promises an utterly warped conclusion to our anti-hero's story.
The opening scene features a sweeping view over New York City, accompanied by Joe's unnerving voiceover: "Hello, you."
He chillingly adds, "You're back, in the greatest city in the world thanks to the one person who could make it possible", hinting at his latest flame Kate.
The stakes have never been higher, and with Joe’s past sins threatening to catch up with him, fans are in for one last, blood-soaked ride.
And it’s not just Joe coming home – it’s a personal homecoming for Badgley, too. The actor revealed to Netflix's Tudum that filming at Silvercup Studios in Queens was particularly nostalgic, given it’s where he shot Gossip Girl over a decade ago. “Returning to the Mooney set was poignant,” he admitted. “I hadn’t been back since.”
The eerie familiarity of stepping back onto the set isn’t lost on Badgley, who has spent the past seven years slipping into Joe’s disturbingly twisted mind. “My first memory of Mooney’s in Season 1 was that it felt big and new,” he reflects. “Now, it’s familiar, it feels smaller… maybe that’s a metaphor for the whole thing.”
But don’t be fooled into thinking Joe’s world is shrinking. If anything, it’s expanding. As the trailer reveals, Joe has everything he’s ever wanted: a luxurious lifestyle, the perfect partner, and even his son back in his arms. But, as You fans know, happily ever after has never been in Joe’s playbook.
While the city that never sleeps offers endless opportunities for reinvention, it also harbours ghosts of Joe’s past – and this season, they’re coming for him. The question isn’t just whether Joe will make it out alive, but if justice will finally catch up with him.
As Badgley puts it, “You is best in New York City. It’s where it started. It’s where it’s ending. It’s fitting.”
