James, the son of Lakers star LeBron, has been suiting up for the Lakers in the California Classic Summer League, with the official NBA Summer League set to begin on Thursday. But James made sure to compliment Whitfield after she posted a series of photos recapping her summer activities. 'My girlfriend,' he commented, before Whitfield left a similarly cheery reply. 'hi babe!!,' she replied. The carousel post include several glimpses into her summer thus far, including pictures of her lounging by the pool and a bouquet of roses on a table in another picture. The second-round pick split his time between the Lakers and their G League affiliate, where he fared much better. He averaged 21.9 points, 5.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds in his 11 G League contests, and recorded a career-high 17 points against the Bucks in a March NBA game. His dad LeBron recently opted into his $52.6million player option for the upcoming season, though the news came as his agent Rich Paul cryptically told ESPN that his client 'values a realistic chance of winning it all.'
