GOLD 191/8
SAPPHIRE 101/9
GOLD won by 90 runs
Afternoon: RUBY vs. EMERALD

Cricket Cranes batter Robinson Obuya (49) and Wasim Butt (27) combined for an opening stand of 76 inside six overs that set a platform for Team Gold to post a strong total of 191/8 as Batball Maxx got underway at Lugogo Oval.
Other contributions came from Gerald Olipa (28), Captain Kenneth Waiswa (23) and Rwandan international Oscar Manishimwe (36).
Henry Ssenyondo (3/23) and Calvin Watuwa (3/29) were the pick of the bowlers for Team Sapphire.
In the run chase, Sapphire lost wickets regularly without any meaningful partnerships to help them mount a charge. Ronald Omara (20) provided the resistance at the back end but it was too little too late as Team Gold had done enough in the first innings to get them the win, a big win for Team Gold by 90 runs.
In the afternoon, Brian Asaba (50) got the first half-century of the tournament but his effort was in vain as a below-par score of 140 by the Ruby team wasn’t enough to deny Emerald a seven-wicket win.
The brother act of Joseph Baguma (33) and Brian Asaba (50) push Ruby but a lack of contributions from others stops them at 140.
In the run chase, Ronald Lutaaya (54 not out) scored the second half-century of the tournament to ensure that Team Emerald picked up maximum points with contributions from Charles Mushemeza (27) and Suleiman Sharif (27).
The action continues with Team Gold taking on Team Emerald in the morning while Team Ruby and Team Sapphire face off in the afternoon on Matchday 2.
