A POPULAR sports club has suspended all its actives following the sad passing of one of their senior players.
Jack Cosgrave, who was from Limerick city, died suddenly on Tuesday.
A notice online remembered Jack as the "beloved son" of Christopher and Lizanne and "dearly loved" brother of Lauren.
It added: "Sadly missed by his partner Áine, Lauren’s fiancé Jason, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends."
The young man, who was an electrician at NKS Electrical in Limerick before his passing, was a player at Young Munster and Thomond Rugby Football Club.
Thomond RFC confirmed yesterday that all activities in the club have been suspended as a mark of respect to him.
A spokesperson said: "All at Thomond RFC are saddened today with the sudden and tragic news of the passing of our senior player and friend Jack Cosgrave. This news is truly heartbreaking.
"Our sorrow is mixed with gratitude to have had the privilege to get to know Jack over the last few years, his modesty, kind nature and sense of humour off the field transformed into a very talented rugby player when he crossed the white line and earned him many great accomplishments on the pitch for Young Munsters and Thomond and made him so very popular in the dressing rooms and around our Club.
"To his many close friends, teammates, and coaches, we now regrettably share your sorrow and pain as we know Jack will be missed by everyone.
"Our deepest sympathies go out to Jacks family, especially his parents, Christy and Lizanne, Jack's sister Lauren and her fiance Jason, his girlfriend Aine, all who will feel his loss the most.
"As a mark of respect to Jack and his family, all rugby activities in Thomond RFC are suspended until further notice."
Tributes have poured in for Jack since his passing, with one person the young man worked alongside for over five years telling how he will be "greatly missed".
He said: "Jack worked with me on many work projects over the last 5 years. I witnessed him progress through his apprenticeship and get his qualifications.
"A genuinely nice, unassuming kid with great manners. He will be greatly missed. Thinking of his family and friends at this time. Rest easy Jack."
A pal said: "Rest in peace Cos, a top lad who left it all on the field, Condolences to your family, you'll be missed but not forgotten, because those boys that stood side by side with you won't let it happen."
'TRULY AMAZING FRIEND'
Another added: "During our time at school, Jack was wise beyond his years. He was mature, kind, and well-mannered-but also absolutely hilarious.
"He had such a special way of bringing joy to those around him. I feel incredibly lucky to have called him my friend.
"The memories we shared, both in and out of school, are ones I will cherish forever. He was a truly amazing friend to me and to so many others."
Jack's family has confirmed that he will be reposing at Thompson's Funeral Home in Limerick on Saturday from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
This will be followed by removal to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Roxboro Road for requiem mass at 1pm followed by private cremation service on Sunday.
Jack's family have issued an emotional request to those who attend the mass.
A notice online said: "In line with Jack’s family's wishes, bright colours should be worn, rugby gear from club or country would also be very much appreciated."
