Derek McInnes to Hearts timeline could accelerate as compensation clause 'revealed'
@Source: dailyrecord.co.uk
Hearts could land Derek McInnes as their new boss swiftly by meeting a minimum compensation clause. The Kilmarnock boss is the red hot favourite to be the next man in the Tynecastle dugout after Neil Critchley was sacked over a fortnight ago. The capital club intend to formally approach their Rugby Park rivals on Monday. The Scottish Sun claims that things could move quickly should Hearts stump up a certain amount in order to release McInnes from his Killie contract. The 53-year-old was a Sky Sports pundit for the Sunday lunchtime Premiership clash between former clubs Rangers and Aberdeen. And he admitted that contact may already have been made about his future, but insisted that he hadn't been lopped into any discussions as yet. "I’m hearing there might have been contact between the clubs but there’s been nothing official from my point of view," he said. “I think with everything, whether you’re a player or manager, if compensation is agreed, then it’s over to the player or manager. “But I need to stress we’re not at that stage. I’ve got a good relationship with the club. “Having done this job for a long time now, sometimes you take it with a pinch of salt. “At times, you’re linked and you get used to it. A lot of the time, you’re linked with things, and there’s nothing in it. “We’ve had a job in hand in terms of taking care of the club and winning games. “Four wins from the last five has been really good for us and the lads have stepped up at the right time, just when we needed it. That’s been the complete focus, to be honest.” Follow Record Sport on Twitter , Facebook and Instagram for all of the up-to-the minute breaking news, video and audio on the SPFL, the Scotland national team and beyond.
