Donald Trump to stay in UK castle for state visit despite tariffs slapped on Brits
@Source: dailystar.co.uk
Donald Trump is expected to stay in Windsor Castle so he can spend time with the Royal family when he visits Britain in September. His visit is being planned as the Prime Minister and his cabinet desperately try to strengthen transatlantic ties in the wake of his trade war and global tariffs blitz. It is believed that Sir Keir Starmer has already discussed advanced plans with the Orange Manbaby after the Government presented a range of options to the White House . They included staying in Balmoral or Dumfries in Scotland , as The Donald owns two golf courses in nearby Aberdeen and Turnberry. But the Tangoed USA leader is said to prefer the majestic Windsor Castle because it holds special memories for him after a previous visit with the late Queen . Confirming the UK visit, Trump said: “It’s a very great honour. And I think they’re setting a date for September. It’s an honour to be a friend of Charles. I have great respect for King Charles and the family... William ... I don’t know how it could be bigger than the last one. “The last one, as you know, was incredible, but they said it’s going to be even more important.” It comes after the US president waded into a new row with Europe, warning Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni in an Oval Office meeting that it has been “very badly hurt” by immigration . He said: “I hope that Europe is going to be great again. Europe has gone through a lot of problems, and a lot of it’s having to do with immigration. “And I’m not a big fan of Europe and what they’ve done with immigration at all, and I think they have got to get smart, because Europe is being very badly hurt by what they’ve done with immigration.” Ms Meloni is the first European leader to visit the White House since Trump lumped 20 per cent reciprocal tariffs on Italy and all EU nations. Despite the tensions, Trump told her that America is going to have “very little problem” making a trade deal with Europe. Elsewhere, Trump's ongoing fallout with Elon Musk hit a new low . The president reportedly launched a temper tantrum by dropping the "F-bomb" as he barred the tech billionaire from a top-secret government meeting about China. It's thought that he is worried that Musk has been strengthening his business dealings with Beijing. Reports suggest Trump was triggered by the news of Musk's attendance and said: "What the f*** is Elon doing there? Make sure he doesn't go." The contents of the meeting still remains unknown, however, Trump's outburst comes at a critical moment in the ongoing trade war between the US and China. "POTUS still very much loves Elon, but there are some red lines," one government official reportedly told Axios. It comes as Trump is trying to keep Musk's influence on a leash. Trump's cabinet has reportedly been growing frustrated due to Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), issuing mass lay-offs without consultation.
